Friday's Fave Five 22/7/16

http://susannesspace.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/fridays-fave-five-383.html

It's Friday so it's time to join in with Suzanne's Friday's Fave Five.

It's a place to come on Fridays and think back over your week and just post about 5 favourite things from your week. It can be anything that tickled your fancy over the week. Favourite quotes, posts, happenings, scriptures, recipes, pictures, great internet finds, etc., etc.

If you want to take part or visit other Fave Five posts, click on the picture above to go to host Suzanne's site and check out the linky list.

Here are my 5 for this week:

1)  Summer!  Definitely here this week, it's been really hot - 30+ degrees.  Good excuse for sitting doing nothing as it's too hot to move.

2)  Time spent with family - we were at a Garden Party on Saturday and quite a few family members were there including my daughter, her wife and son #1.  The weather was beautiful and it went really well - my sister-in-law and brother-in-law do a lot of the organising so it's stressful for them but lots of us went to help set up and serve food and it was a great day out.

3)  Lazy Sunday - two of my sister-in-laws stayed with us Saturday night and then one of them went to Mass with me on Sunday and then we had a coffee in our local coffee shop.  It's was nice to relax and catch up.  After she left to go home I sat reading the paper for quite a while.  Nice to be able to nothing at times.

4)  Visiting Poppy!  Two of my sister-in-laws were babysitting her on Monday while her parents had a well deserved spa day so I gatecrashed the party.  Poppy is doing so much better and it was lovely to spend time with all of them as I waited until the parents got back to see them as well.

5)  Successful shopping.  Today it wasn't quite so hot so I decided to brave our nearby Westfield shopping centre armed with a list of must gets!
(shoes for wedding, handbag for wedding, birthday cards, baptism card and present....something for dinner!)

And I'm pleased to report I got them all!

I'll probably regret the shoes as I don't think I'll be keeping them on for long but at least I'll start the day looking good.
It's been a good week and despite the heat I've also managed to walk most days including Tuesday which was the hottest day of the year so far, but it was also the anniversary of my Dad's death and his name plus my Mum's is on the book of remembrance at the cemetery that day and I always visit if I can.  The cemetery is only a 10-15 minute walk from home but in the afternoon heat it took me much longer.
Have a good weekend all and thanks for visiting.

  2. Great list, Wendy. A successful shopping trip is always a favorite in my book, especially when it comes to clothes for a special occasion. I usually dread the whole 'what to wear' thing, so when I figure it out, I can enjoy anticipating the occasion.

Lazy Sundays are the best, as is time with family.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  3. Looks like a very successful shopping outing - great shoes and bag! I can't remember the last time I sat read a newspaper. I used to love doing that on a Sunday with a cup of coffee. It's a wonderful way to relax and do nothing. Have a great weekend!

  4. So happy to get the update on Poppy. She remains in my daily prayers! I love those shoes! Sure wish I could still wear high heels. My knees give out before my feet do these days. Hope we get to see a photo of you in the complete outfit for the wedding!

  6. My son married in June, so I can share the shoe experience. They looked good, but boy did my feet hurt by the end of the night!! :-)

  8. I really enjoy a successful shopping trip. I've changed shoes at all our kids weddings after the photos! The garden party sounded nice. It's good to have help for events like these. Glad people chipped in. Have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Snazzy shoes and bag! I actually managed to find a pair of shoes for my daughter's wedding that lasted on my feet for 8 hours before I had to kick them off. So nice to hear that Poppy is doing so much better!

  13. Your week sounds great. A party, being with family, coffee time, relaxing and reading the news. Coffee and the newspaper are my favorite way to start my day at home.
I'm glad for you that you were able to get in some walks.

  15. Love the purse and shoes! A day shopping is always a fine day in my opinion, especially when you actually find things you're looking for.

A day relaxing and doing nothing is good for us every now and then. Our bodies need the recharging that comes from downtime, so your laid back Sunday was a day well spent.

Good for you for walking even on the hottest day of the year. I have to admit to struggling with that right now. The heat just wipes me out.

    Blessings,
    Patti
