Book review - The Liar by Nora Roberts 13/10/16

The LiarThe Liar by Nora Roberts

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Shelby Pomeroy has been left a widow when her husband, Richard Foxworth, is killed in a boating accident. After his death Shelby discovers that their life had been a sham. Their big house hadn't been paid for and there are numerous other debts.

Shelby decides her only solution is to sell everything and return, with her young daughter Callie, to the family home in Tennessee. She gradually starts to rebuild her life and begins a relationship with Griffin Lott.

But her past catches up with her and the full extent of Richard's lies begin to be revealed, leading to a dramatic conclusion.

I did enjoy the book. It's easy to read, especially if you like a good romance with a bit of a thriller and intrigue thrown in. But it's also very predictable and not particularly original. At over 500 pages it's a bit long. Ideal for snuggling in with during the winter months but not for a quick holiday read.

  2. I've always enjoyed Nora Roberts' books, but agree with you that they can be predictable.
