My theme for the 2017 challenge is waffling on about random
words!
That might not seem like a theme but if you read on you’ll
discover it’s not quite as random as it sounds.
The words were generated using a word generator (https://randomwordgenerator.com/)
and I opted for 4 words each day. I
might focus on one or try and incorporate them all into the post.
Choosing the words this way has given me a challenge and a
common thread to my posts but it has also allowed me to be myself and just
waffle! It’s what I’m good at. (Don’t worry, I’m aiming for around 500 words
per post so hopefully you won’t get stuck here for too long 😉)

A shame that quick didn't come up today then I could have rattled off this post without feeling guilty.
I'm glad we have a Queen. I'm a bit of a traditionalist at heart so I love all the pomp and ceremony and how history impacts on us. Of course our Queen is a great example. I'm sure that some might not be as good, especially if they never thought they would be in that position.
It must be very hard to be thrown into a job that you're only qualified for because of who your parents were, not because it's something you have the skills for. Although of course poor Prince Charles has had years to hone his skills for a post that he may not hold for long. His mother looks good for another 10 years given that she will be 91 this month and her mother lived to be 101. If that happened Prince Charles would be coming to the throne at 78. Most people are well into their retirement by then. Or maybe not the way the pension age keeps going up in this country.
Maybe there should be a quota. 50 years maximum on the throne. But don't quote me on that! Especially as that's not a good use of the word quota. For it to work it would have to be related to something e.g. a percentage of the monarch's age when they came to the throne. In the Queen's case though it would have to be more than 100 % as she was only 25 when she was crowned.
Now that I'm waffling on about Maths it's time to stop for today's post.

I enjoy the pomp and circumstance and am always somewhat interested when I see your Queen on our TV. She is still beautiful. I'm reading a book about her cousin, called The Last Curtsy. Pretty interesting so far. Good job on the Qs....
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the stories about the monarchy, but I can't help but think the money could be spent in a better way to help more people than to keep the queen and her family in such a lifestyle.

ReplyDeleteQueen Elizabeth has so much energy. She just amazes me. It would be quite a change to have term limits on being the monarch.

ReplyDeleteThis is a great post, Wendy. I think Queen Elizabeth is an interesting lady. I loved Princess Diana and her sweet boys. Her grandchildren are just precious.
ReplyDeleteHere in the colonies, we have a president and I am not at all sure which is best, a monarch or a president. It seems that both can get their countries in quite an uproar at times.
According to Ancestry.com, Queen Elizabeth and I share a common ancestor. I thought that was pretty interesting, but it would take forever for me to track down the facts one way or the other on that one.
