P is for Peace & Plagiarism

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary blogging from A to Z challenge letter

This year I decided not to tie myself to a theme.  I wanted to do something that felt more like writing rather than composing posts.  I didn’t want it to be a story that had to be followed from start to finish so what I’ve ended up with are: “Conversations in my Head”.

Well this is a peaceful start to the day.  No sign of Alice so I can get on with what I’d planned to do.  It’s very disconcerting when she’s suddenly chirping in my ear.  It happens at all sorts of times in the day, and night.  Oh yes I’m not a very good sleeper and I’m usually awake at some point in the night and just as I’m managing to drift off to sleep again up pops Alice.

The trouble is I can’t always remember what she said and, although I hate to admit it, (she’s full of her own self-importance already without adding fuel to the fire) sometimes it was quite good.  I’m beginning to understand why writers always have a notebook to hand or use their phone or tablet to jot things down.
I’m pretty certain that there was a good suggestion for the letter P somewhere in my half-awake state one night and I was sure I would remember it so of course I didn’t make a note of it.  It will probably come to me at some point, too late for inclusion here though.

I rather thought this post might be about pelicans but then I remembered it was pink flamingos that Alice spoke about.  Of course there was also Pig and Pepper but that might have been a bit fishy and I’m definitely not keen on toads…

Ahem, I see you’ve started without me today.

Well Alice, these posts won’t write themselves and I was taking advantage of a bit of peace

And a bit of plagiarism.  Pelicans indeed.  It was definitely pink flamingos I spoke about.

It’s only plagiarism if I try to pass something off as my own when it comes from another source.

But it does come from another source.  Me!

But you only exist in my imagination so what’s yours must be mine.  And what’s mine is my own.

Well that line definitely isn’t yours Wendy so I rest my case!

Good, peace at last.
