Friday's Fave Five - 10/7/20

Well it's Friday again so time to look back on the week and highlight some blessings.  This meme is hosted by Susanne over at Living to tell the story.
Pop over there to see who else is taking part and to find out how to join in.

Here are my 5 for this week:

1)  We went for a walk in the park with Rory and his Mummy at the weekend.  He is always so pleased to see us.

2)  Progress with the house move - the surveyor has been to our house and we have booked for a survey to be done on the house we are buying.  We also had a whole load of paperwork to go through yesterday for the new house.  Our solicitor seems to be on the ball with it all.

3)  Our Chancellor cut Stamp Duty this week so that will save us some money.

4)  I got a haircut!  (I've posted pictures here.)

5)  Nathan's baby sibling is doing fine - 20 week scan done this week and all ok.  Also Poppy's baby sibling does not carry the same genetic condition so that's a relief for my niece and her partner.  Poppy's condition is lifelong and requires a careful diet and overnight tube feeding.  It's particularly challenging if she's unwell especially with tummy bugs and there was a 1 in 4 chance of the new baby having the same condition.  Hopefully my niece can now enjoy the rest of her pregnancy.

The week has been much of a repeat of previous weeks really.  (Apart from the haircut!)  Things have been relaxed here quite a bit.  Shops are open as are pubs and restaurants but all having to follow strict guidance on social distancing and hygiene.  We're not really venturing out yet.  It still doesn't feel that safe to be in busy places with lots of people.  The number of cases/deaths are still falling but very gradually now and some places have seen a spike in numbers.  This thing is still out there but apparently they have agreed to dismantle the temporary morgue so that's another blessing.

Have a good weekend all.

  2. Yay for progress on the house, and I'm so glad the new baby doesn't have the condition the first child does. Wow, that was quite a haircut! Looks cool and easy for summer. We're still being cautious about going out here, too. Sadly, both cases and deaths have gone up here, after holding steady for so long.

  3. We aren't wandering far either. -smile-

Our big change, was actually grocery shopping ourselves, in 2 stores. Early in the morning though, when few were in there. For items we can not be sure, to be put in our curb side pick up orders.

But that's all we are doing. Being in our 80's, we are among those who have to be very careful.

    1. We've been fortunate enough to get shopping deliveries so haven't needed to venture out much at all.

  4. Florida is spiking now after relaxing restrictions but that was to be expected. We are also testing more people, so of course the numbers will go up. Joe and I are still being careful and wearing masks as necessary but we are enjoying a restaurant meal now and then (not carryout). We are sure ready for it to all be over!! I am glad things are progressing nicely with the homes AND good news about the coming babies, too! xo

We are just beginning our journey into all the selling of a house paperwork. I feel your pain.
I am looking forward to seeing the pictures you post (eventually) of your new home.
Have a good weekend with lots of walks in the park!

  6. Nice haircut ! Now you start probably with less paper work with the house sale !What comes next was a nightmare for me, hope you are more lucky. We have 4 month to move out before the final contract is signed at the notary. And meanwhile he got the money ! That's why they all so rich ! Fortunately you get nearly nothing anymore on a normal account.

  8. We are not going out in public places either except to grocery shop. Though we've done takeout we haven't been to a restaurant. I want to go but I don't. Wow, great haircut! Do you like it after having the longer hair? How wonderful the house stuff is progressing. The paperwork part is never fun though necessary. There is blessings in the ordinary sameness. Glad you were able to pinpoint some!

  9. Such a cute haircut! That is such happy news about your niece. We went to the mountains this weekend, but stayed with my brother and his family and only went out to hike. Still being careful here, too.
