Friday's Fave Five - 13/11/20

Thanks to our host Susanne for reminding us to be mindful each week and find five things to be thankful for. You can join in by clicking on the link below:

Living to the the Story

Well we're in the second week of the second national lockdown here so it's been quiet this week but there are always things to be thankful for such as:

1)  Time with Grandson Nathan and his Mummies - yes we're in lockdown but we're in a childcare bubble with them.  Nathan is always so excited to see us.  I love being a grandparent.

2)  A shed!  We've actually had the shed for a few weeks but the installers came this week to assemble it.  They were supposed to come on Wednesday but after a couple of calls to them it turned out they couldn't make it Wednesday and they rescheduled us for the 1st December!  As you can imagine I wasn't too impressed.  Then at 7.30 pm I got an e-mail saying they could come yesterday.  Well of course I said yes and the shed is now up.  Now we can clear out the things that are in the garage and garden room that belong in the shed and that will be a bit more progress!

3)  A chat with my best friend.  She dropped a parcel off to me yesterday and we had quite a chat.  Of course she couldn't come into the house, even though she really wants to see our new home, but she did venture into the garden which can be accessed without going through the house to get a look around the outside.  Yep call me a rule breaker!  We've only seen each other  a couple of times like this since this pandemic began.  Her husband is in a vulnerable group and he also has elderly parents that they've had to protect so understandably they have been very cautious.  We're so looking forward to being able to meet up properly again and chat over a cup of tea rather than the phone.

4)  Food shopping deliveries booked up until Christmas!  Because I signed up to a delivery plan with one of our big supermarkets I save money on deliveries and get priority for things like delivery slots at Christmas.  Today was the day that the slots became available and I got one without too much waiting online.  One less thing to worry about.

5)  The realistic prospect of a vaccine for this horrible virus.  This seems the only way we will get back to anything like normality so I'm just hoping that the reality will be as good as what the trials are suggesting.

Enjoy the weekend.

  2. So glad you got to see and visit with your friend. Good that you got the shed assembled. Grandkids are such a blessing. We don't see ours much which makes us sad, but they are always in our hearts. Yes, we are also pleased that the vaccine is coming along. Hope you have a good weekend.

  3. So glad that you can include Nathan and his moms in your 'bubble.' Yay for the shed going up! I am with you on feeling excited about being able to clean out the garage. Amazing how our priorities change, isn't it? The vaccine is good news, knowing there is a light at the end of this long, long tunnel.

  4. It’s hard to imagine that not too long ago we took a visit from a friend for granted. I think we will all remember how important friends and family are when this is all over. Praying for a vaccine.

  5. I've read about the UK lockdown. Some states here are in lockdown too, one of them where my son lives. I hope you stay well.
At least you get to see Nathan and his parents. We have our 'pod' of daughters and grandchildren.
I am making googly eyes about the shed. That's on our list :)

  6. I've thought about you and wondered how things were there with the pandemic. I am glad you can at least see your grandchild. I am pretty much alone most of the time. Hope I come out of this with my sanity.
