Friday's Fave Five - 10/2/23

Goodness it's Friday again - this week seems to have flown by.  Thankfully Susanne reminds us every week to take a breath and think back on the good things of the week.  Find out more here.

These are mine:

1)  A meal out with Hubby.  We tried out a Chinese restaurant in town which had been recommended.  It was ok but I wouldn't rate it as highly as the people who recommended it.  But it was nice to eat out just the two of us.

2)  An outing with all our local Grandkids and their parents on Sunday.  We met up in Wanstead Park for a walk first and then into Wanstead itself for lunch at a family friendly pizza restaurant.

The Grandkids love getting together and they all enjoyed their desserts!

3)  A day with Vinny yesterday - his nursery was closed.  He is such good company and he's become such a chatterbox.

There were no tears or tantrums and he even went down for a nap with no bother which was a welcome break in the middle of the day.

4)  A Knit and Natter session on Wednesday - it shouldn't have been until next week but that's half term and lots of people are away so we had one this week instead.  There were less of us there than last week but two of the new people came again so that was good.  I managed to make a start on Maisie's dress.

5)  A flying visit from our elder son.   He recently started a new job and although he's still based in Nottingham where he lives it will involve a bit of travel at times.  On Thursday he was due in London to meet some of his new colleagues so he travelled down Wednesday and stayed with us.  We didn't see much of him as he arrived quite late and left fairly early but I'm thankful that we have space to be able to offer a bed for the night when needed.

So that's my week.

We have a busy weekend lined up - grandsitting on both days.

Have a good weekend all.

  2. It's nice to have a "child" back home again, even if it's briefly. Love the photo of the two little ones in the doorway. So cute!

  4. Wow ! You let your hair grow ! Suits you very well ! How nice to do some walking with the family ! How the children have grown ! It's a long time I haven't eaten Chinese, good idea. I enjoy Toby now, now we can have conversations, he is so grown up and has a very good general knowledge already, especially in geography, (not like his grandma) I feel so little besides him and even worse when I am in the middle of the two. I measure 1.71 and he with his 12 years is taller as me, he looks down !! What a feeling, lol !

  5. How wonderful to have that time with your grands and no tears or tantrums at nap time! It's great to be part of a knitting group. I've thought about trying to find one. Perhaps that would spur me on. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I like your Knit and Natter group. My daughter is planning to start one locally, so obviously I will be part of it.
    Can't wait to see Maisie!

  7. How fun to get together with all the local grandkids. My husband and I are talking about going out for Valentine's Dinner on Monday, the day before. Valentine's Day is always so busy at restaurants, and we have the whole family over for Valentine's Day. We usually get take-out when it's just the two of us, but it will be nice to actually eat out somewhere. I'm glad Vnny's visit went so well and your son was able to come, even for a short visit.

  8. I enjoyed the photos. I think having a place to go for a good nights sleep is best, I am sure your son was thankful. Hopefully he will be able to pop in again.
    Have a great week!

  9. What a lovely day at the park and then pizza afterwards with the grandkids! And extra time with Vinny sounds wonderful too. Knit and Natter sounds fun. I don't knit but can natter quite well. :)
