Joyce hosts the Hodgepodge here. Pop over to see who else is playing.
1. It's been said January is 'the month of opportunity, inspiration, and change." Which of the three do you need most right now? Elaborate.
Well I think I'm going to need inspiration when the decorators have finished to add the finishing touches to our living room. We're going to need sofas, curtains etc but I'm not good at picking things out.

2. Do you consider opportunity as something that comes to you or something you create for yourself?
Well I think that some people are very good at creating opportunities but that's not me. They need to come to me.
3. The British Museum opened on this date (January 15th) back in 1759. Do you like visiting museums? Do you have a favorite?
I do like visiting museums but haven't done much of it since the pandemic really. I have been to the British Museum though and the Transport museum is good for kids.
4. It's National Oatmeal Month (yes, apparently it gets a whole month as opposed to a single day). Do you like oatmeal? How often do you eat a bowl of oatmeal? How do you like yours? What about an oatmeal cookie? Is that a sweet treat you enjoy?
A whole month of Oatmeal! No thanks lol. I do like it but I wouldn't want it everyday. I usually add something sweet to it. And yes I'd eat an oatmeal cookie.

5.What's something useful you learned in high school?
I'm sure I learned lots of useful things but none spring immediately to mind. I do remember wasting a year learning Latin and another year learning Russian neither of which have proved useful during my life.
I think the most useful thing I learned was actually at night classes at the local college and that was Touch Typing. Such a useful skill and although my speed is not what it was I use it every day.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Well we're almost at the end of the decorating now. The end is in sight but then we have to move on to updating all the soft furnishings etc. and getting units for storage and display. We have made some progress on that - we had someone come yesterday to look at the space and discuss what we want. Hopefully he won't take too long to come back to us with a quote as the lead in time is 12 weeks! The chaos will continue......
Good luck with picking things out for the living room. I love doing things like that but it does take me forever to decide on something.
ReplyDeleteAhh! I remember being at school, I think my year group was the last to be taught Latin and it was only the clever kids, they got to do it instead of French.
How exciting that you're updating your living room! Mine looks pretty much how it did 20 years ago!
ReplyDeleteI know what I like but I also like a decorator to confirm my choices : ) 12 weeks is a long lead time, but eventually you'll get there. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing your home all done up. :-)
ReplyDeleteOOH I LOVE choosing new furniture and decor......you must be so happy that project is almost done.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter took Russian from 5th grade all the way up through high school and then majored in honors russian in college. She LOVES it. She collects russian literature, too. she got all A's all the way through. Must be hte ballerina in her. hahah She also took 2 years of french in high school and 1 year of Latin ("for fun")all this while juggling Russian and Advanced Placement courses. My oldest took French from 5th grade through her 2nd year of college. I took French. My husband took Spanish, French and Hebrew. he and my oldest are learning japanese. and he knows some italian. Both girls were exposed to Spanish, Russian, French and German in 4th and 5th grade (our district has it as part of the curriculum... a semester of each, each year from 4th grade-6th grade or you can focus on just one come 5th grade. We love languages here in our home. hahah
I enjoyed your answers!
You answered typing to #5 and that should have been my answer too! I didn't even think of it, but it probably is the best skill I learned in school. Another fun Hodgepodge!! Looking forward to seeing your newly decorated spaces!!
ReplyDeleteTyping is one of the most practical things I learned in high school as well, and I still use it every day. Enjoyed reading your answers to these. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI learnt to touch type after I left high school and it amazes my daughters and grandchildren that I can still touch type, when they see me watching the TV while typing something and when they check there is only a few mistakes.
