C is for calculation...A-Z Challenge 2017

My theme for the 2017 challenge is waffling on about random words!

That might not seem like a theme but if you read on you’ll discover it’s not quite as random as it sounds.  The words were generated using a word generator (https://randomwordgenerator.com/) and I opted for 4 words each day.  I might focus on one or try and incorporate them all into the post.

Choosing the words this way has given me a challenge and a common thread to my posts but it has also allowed me to be myself and just waffle!  It’s what I’m good at. (Don’t worry, I’m aiming for around 500 words per post so hopefully you won’t get stuck here for too long 😉 )

And the words for today are….

Calculation

Country

Calf

Code

I used to be good at calculation.  Maths was my favourite subject at school.  I was good at it.  I took it at A level and passed and even considered going on to study it at uni.  Then I decided enough was enough.

I’m glad I made that choice otherwise my life would have gone in a different direction and I’m happy with the way things turned out.  I still enjoy doing number puzzles though and I’m usually the one that gets the job of calculating the share of a bill if we eat out.  Although these days I cheat and use the calculator on my phone to work out any hard sums!

Sums and words are definitely my thing.  We discovered a good new game over Christmas called Code Words.  You play in teams with your team leader giving you clues to words you have to guess.  Guess right and you stay in.  Guess wrong and you could end up assassinated.  Yes it’s loosely based on a spy theme.  Another game we liked was called Where is Moldova?  A board game based on gaining a chain of countries by answering questions, challenging your opponents or just by being lucky with rolling the dice.  It’s fairly straightforward and doesn’t take too long to play.  I love board games but sometimes you just don’t have the time required by some of them.

3 down, 1 to go.  Calf.  Well when I drafted this post I was thinking let’s not be sentimental and talk about the furry kind.  Although baby cows tend to be more hairy than furry.  We could talk about the leg kind.  (Which was also probably hairy.)  Particularly as I was having leg trouble at the time.  Not the calf but the knees.  Especially the left knee.  Having made a decision earlier last year to get fit, hubby and I had agreed to try out one of these Couch to 5K apps.

It seemed a good idea, progressing from walking to gently introducing running jogging into our routine.  (Not that we actually had a routine!)  But 3 weeks in my knees made it quite clear this was not a good idea………(I've since been referred for physio and advised to avoid load bearing exercise such as jogging, aerobics, etc.  Such a shame!)

Are you a lover of veal?  (Or does the thought of it send you into a vegan rant?) Is there a country you are hoping to visit?

  2. I love veal. I don't have a problem with eating a baby 'anything' to tell the truth. God provided us with these animals to help us to live!! And my favorite Italian is Veal Scallopini. Yum yum yum! I'm having trouble with my knees too!!

  3. I am hoping to visit Australia one day. Veal does creep me out, but I don't rant about it, being a meat eater and all. I love calculations - I tutor math and love number puzzles. And the Davinci Code is one of my favourite books! I am enjoying your A to Z very much.
