F is for Fuss...A-Z Challenge 2017

My theme for the 2017 challenge is waffling on about random words!

That might not seem like a theme but if you read on you’ll discover it’s not quite as random as it sounds.  The words were generated using a word generator (https://randomwordgenerator.com/) and I opted for 4 words each day.  I might focus on one or try and incorporate them all into the post.

Choosing the words this way has given me a challenge and a common thread to my posts but it has also allowed me to be myself and just waffle!  It’s what I’m good at.  (Don’t worry, I’m aiming for around 500 words per post so hopefully you won’t get stuck here for too long 😉)
And the words for today are….

Fuss

Forum
Franchise
Fool

I don’t like a lot of fuss.  I certainly am not comfortable with being the centre of attention.  Being a bride was difficult particularly as I’m also not good at accepting compliments.  I tend to get embarrassed and don’t always respond graciously.  I’m one of those people who is constantly sorry about everything.  As if it’s always my fault.  I’m trying to get better at that.

I like the blogging community because it’s much easier to respond when you’re not face to face.  Facebook can be a bit trickier.  There are some posts which I think I’ll comment on but then when I start looking at comments and see how vitriolic some of them are I shy away.

It’s definitely not the right forum for having a proper discussion or even debate about an issue and yet it’s supposed to be a social network.  Not always very sociable.  Some people only seem to enjoy being on it if they can make others feel like a fool.

There was even a heated debate on a book club group I’m a member of one weekend.  The focus of that was a backlash against those with a blog devoted mainly to book reviews leaving links on the Facebook group to their reviews rather than copying and pasting them into a Facebook post.  It became quite nasty at times.  Fortunately I missed most of the excitement.

Hmm I’ve skipped Franchise.  Maybe because although at one time hubby and I have discussed taking on a Franchise as an opportunity it’s not something we’ve really wanted to do.  There are some schemes he’d probably be good at but he can be very negative.  He’s not a risk taker.  But then neither am I.  I know for some the mantra is “no risk, no gain” but I’m more of a “no risk, no pain” kind or girl which also hopefully stops me being the fool.

Have you ever considered taking on a Franchise?

  1. Never considered purchasing a franchise. It would likely mean having to talk to too many people outside my bubble!
Why on earth would people waste their energy betting snippy about the way people paste links to blogs? They should just have a cup of tea in the room of mirrors.

    1. Yep I couldn't do all the face to face selling.

  2. A franchise would not appeal to me. In fact running any kind of business would be a risk too far for me. Blogging is something I enjoy and fortunately have only received pleasant comments.

  3. I am like you - not a risk taker - so no franchise ideas from me. I agree about the fuss on many forums. People get sooooo mean, so fast. I agree with Wendy's comment above about the cup of tea in the room of mirrors!

  4. I am not a risk taker either. I wonder what I have missed by not being one!! And don't even get me started on Facebook....not social at all in my opinion!

  5. Some franchises are quite profitable, but many are just a quick slide to bankruptcy. Tons of work and the franchisor gets all the money! You picked a great way to accomplish your A-Z!!

    1. Thanks Terri. Yes some definitely favour the franchisor more than others.
