Friday's Fave Five - 24/7/26

Friday again so time to look back on the week and list the blessings.  Susanne keeps us on our toes and we join up here.

1)  Fresh water.  I'm not a fan of bottled water and I certainly don't like fizzy water so I'm thankful that we have drinkable water from the tap here, particularly while it's been so hot.  I've been drinking lots more than usual.  Some areas in London this week were without water due to burst water mains so I'm especially grateful that we weren't affected by that.

2)  Apparently today is National Cousins Day in the US.  Who knew?  Anyway I am blessed with several cousins that I'm close to and one of them became a grandmother again yesterday.  This comes at the end of a very long journey for her daughter, and is actually a rainbow baby so very precious.

3)  Getting back to normality and routines.  I was definitely out of sorts after our holiday and while our daughter and her family were here.  The excessive heat didn't help either.  But this week it's been a bit cooler and I've managed to get back on track with my usual routines, reading and blogging.

4)  Dinner sorted tonight courtesy of the Foodbank.  Occasionally we get things donated that we can't give out to beneficiaries - anything containing alcohol for example.  Volunteers are offered the chance to take advantage of this and Hubby and I will be having a lasagne each tonight that has red wine in it.

5)  A knit and natter session on Wednesday - well a natter session for me.  I'd been doing some knitting before I went and somehow managed to leave one of my needles at home!  It was still nice to get out of the house though and catch up with friends.

Have a good weekend all.

  1. I like tap water more than bottled and fizzy water too. I saw on the news about the burst water mains and water being handed out. Eek! That is good you are getting back to your normal routine. Enjoy the lasagne!

  2. I am glad you can drink your tap water. I remember drinking water out of the hose as a child. It is nice to get our with friends. I am meeting friends for lunch next week. Enjoy your weekend!

  3. I prefer plain tap water, too. With lots of ice!
I learned something new - had no idea there was a ‘cousins day.’ However, I have many that I will celebrate.

  4. I am so happy to hear you have water, and that it is safe to drink.
We enjoyed three days of lovely weather and no smoke blowing in from the fires.

  5. I drink bottled water all the time. Our city water tastes okay, but I prefer water to be nice and COLD. Yes, I could keep a pitcher in the 'fridge, but it's easier to grab a bottle. My bad. I'm glad you are settling back into your more normal routine. I know how good that feels after being away or having a house full. Cheers! Happy weekend!

  7. Our tap water is ok to drink...in fact, Latham water is used to make Aquafina bottled water!! I don't buy bottled water due to not wanting plastics so I use a Brita filter and keep a reusable water bottle on hand in the car and in the home. Of course for hiking I have a hydration pack.

I want to thank you for your kind and encouraging comments regarding my emotional posts :)
being a survivor of church abuse/spiritual abuse on top of being involved in sexual abuse lawsuit and advocating for the person, along with my own past trauma of childhood sexual abuse has been draining. Just when you believe you are "healed" from the past, something triggers those memories and wham......
But i'm definitely learning to release the toxic people from my life. So thank you for your encouraging words. It meant al ot.

  8. We had the same weather as you, very hot then this week bearable and next week we are in the 30 °C again ! Lots of people are sick and the hospitals full. I think for the future we need the same system, heating and cooling in one ! Like in the States. So far we didn't have any water shortage, I prefer sparkling water. We have a sort of pump in the restaurant where you can get "bubble" water and normal one. I have quite some problems with my lung disease maybe because of the humidity.

  9. I saw where your area was very hot, here, in Florida, it's always hot, lol. We have a well, no city water here. I prefer the well water to that anyways. Wishing you a beautiful day

  10. We don't entirely trust our tap water here, so we use bottled water. I don't like fizzy or flavored waters, though. Sadly, I am only in touch with two cousins. Some of my cousins were my closest friends in childhood, but we've lost touch over the years. It takes me awhile to recover from an outing or from a family visit, too, though I love them. Glad you're getting back to your routines.

  11. Yes, water is a blessing. We take it for granted until we don't have it.
I'm glad your week has been back to normal routine.
And congratulations to your cousin with the new baby!
    Have a good week!

  12. I'm thankful we actually have good tap water from our city. It isn't so where our daughter lives. When we visit her we buy a case of water to drink and make coffee with because the tap water tastes so gross. So nice to have extended family you keep in touch with. I've only ever met all my cousins once in my whole life as they live in Hungary. Glad your days are getting back to somewhat normal for you.
