My theme for this challenge is family and relations.
In-laws “relatives by marriage”
Well I gained a lot of in-laws when I got married. My husband is the eldest of 8 children so add
that to his parents and that was 9 straight away. Two of the siblings were already married and
one of them had 3 children so more in-laws.
The good thing is that I get on well with all of them. My mother-in-law is still alive and we get on
really well. We’re having her to stay
today until next Wednesday so we must have something right! I got on well with my father-in-law too when
he was alive. I suppose part of it is
down to the fact that they are genuinely good people. They were raised and live as Catholics and my
mother-in-law in particular has a very strong faith. (I’m not suggesting that non-catholics or
even atheists or anyone else for that matter can’t be a good person so please
don’t take offence at that comment.)
Goodness it’s hard trying to be politically correct all the
time!
Anyway I think I’ve passed the test of was I good enough to
be hubby’s wife. They all seem to like
me too. I can remember the first time we
went out. I went to meet him at his house and while I was waiting for him in
the hall one after the other his sisters seemed to find an excuse to come out
of the living room and check me out. I
hadn’t realised until then how big his family was but that’s another blog.
My husband never got the chance to get to know my Dad
unfortunately but he got on well with my Mum and was very supportive during her
decline and subsequent death due to Alzheimer’s.
Sorry if you came today looking for some in-law horror stories I’m afraid you won’t find them here.
