Friday's Fave Five - 6/2/26

Yes it's Friday again (how?) so time to look back on the blessings of the week and then link up at Living to Tell the Story with other like minded bloggers.  Susanne is the one who keeps us on our toes.  Thanks Susanne.

1)  A lazy weekend.  It was good to just be able to quietly relax at home with no commitments etc.

2)  I made it to my keep fit class on Tuesday despite waking up feeling really lazy and my back wasn't great.  Glad that I did because of course it helps with my back and I get to socialise with former work colleagues.

3)  A good book club session on Wednesday - this was with the afternoon group that meets at the local library.  There were only 4 of us but 2 were new members who both seemed to enjoy themselves and we had a good discussion on the book we'd read - The Power by Naomi Alderman.

4)  A Knit and Natter session on Wednesday evening.  I'm making good progress with the little bag for Ella.  I've done the main bag and cover.  I've started the strap so then it will just be the ears and horns to do.  Need to brush up on doing a magic loop for those.  It's a long time since I did any crochet apart from granny squares!

5)

Happy birthday to our younger son.  He is such a great Dad to these two and he's settled well into life in the US - he even got a promotion in his job recently.  He probably gave us the most grief when they were growing up, particularly as a teen, but so proud of the man he is today.

And a bonus - I applied to renew my passport earlier this week - it was really easy to do online but they won't start on the process until they receive your old one which I posted off as instructed.  Well I heard today that they've already printed my new one and it will soon be on its way to me!

Have a good weekend all!  Wet and dreary here but I have more daffodils in the house and spring is coming!

  1. I had to renew my passport a couple of years ago and I couldn't believe how easy (online) and quick the whole process was compared to the very first time (1989) I acquired one! Much easier nowadays.

I love the pic of your son and glad he is doing well here in the states. If I remember correctly, he is in Vermont (one of my fave places!!) and so is having the same bitter cold we are here in New York! But hey.....i love the 4 seasons so.....never gonna llive anywhere but the northeast if I can help it.

I've been a bit lazy this week in regards to my keeping fit workouts so I'm getting back to it later this morning via some good you tube videos I found for pilates and cardio. Thank God for free workouts because right now I cannot afford the gym prices.

    HAPPY WEEKEND!

  4. I have to do my passport this summer. Not planning to travel, but I like having it. No stamps in my current one, either. You are busy with your activities! Congrats to your son on his promotion! Have a good weekend, Wendy!

  6. I love days and weekends like that when there are no obligations. I'm glad you made it to your class. I've been wanting to find some gentle stretches for the lower back. Yay for knitting progress and book club discussions and passport progress! Happy birthday to your son--glad he is doing so well!

  7. Ouch, you reminded me that I have to check my passport too ! Your son was probably the same pest as mine while being teenager ! a nightmare, but now I am as you proud of what he has become, and he is such a nice man and goes so well with kids (probably inherited from his Dad). Now it's Toby's turn being 15, and my poor Dario suffers because now Toby prefers his friends to his Dad. He doesn't say anything, but I "read" between the lines !

    1. Yes our kids all have to go through the various stages before they can become nice adults.

  8. I'm glad you had a lazy weekend because your week ended up being quite busy. Congrats on making it to fit class. It's been so cold here that we resorted to walking in the mall. And congrats on the quick and easy renewal of your passport.
And also, congrats to your son on his promotion! And for settling in well to US life.

  9. Thanks for the reminder about passports. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention when mine came up for renewal and I missed so I have to reapply from scratch. Lazy weekends are wonderful sometimes. Glad you are enjoying your book club. Good to hear that your son is settling well into his job and new home in the U.S.
