It's Friday so time to look back on the blessings of the week and then share them over here at Susanne's site. Thank you Susanne for keeping us on track.
1) Time with Grandkids Nathan and Ella. We had them here last Saturday overnight. This was the first time we'd had them overnight so it was a bit of a challenge. They were actually quite good playing together during the afternoon and Nathan went to bed quite easily. Ella is another story - she is not good at settling down to sleep but, thankfully, once she is asleep she tends to sleep right through to the morning. Nathan on the other hand was obviously a bit anxious and woke during the night so I ended up sleeping on a mattress on the floor between their beds so not the best night's sleep! But it enabled my daughter to celebrate her upcoming birthday without having to worry about the kids. Her birthday isn't for another week or so but it's hard to find venues and co-ordinate dates.
2) Sunshine! We've had a lot of it this week. Really improves the mood.
3) A walk round the lake on Wednesday - and the mud has dried up. The pathways are still quite rutted from where we had all the mud but it was nice to just pull my trainers on for the walk. And the swan is nesting so hopefully there will be cygnets soon. Daddy swan is definitely in protective mode though.
The pigeons were trying very hard to grab the food in the water near the edge even though it was too big for them really.
4) Bluebells! On Tuesday after my keep fit class I took a trip down memory lane and visited Wanstead Park which is an area where we used to go for walks before we moved. It has an area called Chalet Wood that is famous for its bluebells.
My phone camera doesn't really do them justice although they were probably past their best - I should have gone last week.
5) Hubby and I took a walk on Monday to our nearby Larkswood. No bluebells this time but we did discover this structure:
It's huge!
So grateful to have such nice places nearby to spend time in the fresh air and get some exercise.
Have a good weekend all.

Oh I LOVED reading the history and lore of the bluebells you posted! What a beautiful spot.
ReplyDeleteThat structure is really cool! i love walks or hikes that lead to some awesome destinations. I would love your area!!
How fun to have the grandchildren over for a sleepover. and yay for sunshine! We have had lots of sunny days this week too except yesterday was a little rainy.
Ok...what are trainers? Are those like running or power walking sneakers? I'm too lazy to google right now.
OH and I did answer your question on my FFF but don't know if you see replies. YES, I park my Kia Soul in the garage and am hoping once the kayak racks are on it that I can continue to do so, otherwise Hubby will be parking in the garage and I'll take his side of the driveway spot for the warmer months. He's not retired so he drives into work every Tues-Thurs and works from home on M/F.
Happy weekend
What a beautiful week you shared. I can imagine how tiring it must be to have your grandchildren stay overnight for the first time—but also so special that you could help your daughter celebrate without worry.
ReplyDeleteThe bluebells sound absolutely lovely. Even if they were just past their peak, I hope you could still see that soft blue glow. I’ve never seen them like that myself, but I’ve heard there are places in the Netherlands and Belgium too… maybe next spring for me 😊
And that photo of the swan—wow. Look at those wings indeed! Such a powerful and beautiful moment to capture. Thank you for sharing all these little glimpses of your week.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI love your bluebells.
My aunt lives in Texas and she has bluebonnets that bloom in the fields and ditches.
Oh yes, sunshine, I agree, it helps the mood indeed.
xo
Hi Wendy, I sure enjoyed all your post! I love nature pictures and don't get to see that too often since I live in the city. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI spent the whole week outside in our beautiful park and tried to walk each day. Your photos are lovely ! Isn't spring a wonderful time ??
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have the Grandkids stay over and let your daughter celebrate her birthday.
ReplyDeleteThe sunshine has been lovely, it improves my mood too.
That is great you got to see the bluebells.
The bluebells photos were beautiful and I enjoyed reading the plaques and learning more about them. I never knew one shouldn't trod on them.
ReplyDeleteYes, grandkids can be exhausting, but they are a great joy, too. All but one of mine are teenagers now. Feeding them is the big challenge.
And sunshine! I hope you have many days this coming week to walk in the sun and find wooden forts.
Glad the night with the grandkids went well. We haven't had ours overnight yet, except when the guys go camping. Sunshine really does improve one's mood. It's good the muddy places have dried out. How nice to have so many bluebells in one area.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice place that bluebell area is! How fun to see the swans. I don't think we have any in our area. So nice to have sunshine. We've had a very grey winter and I'm so glad to see starting to be more consistent. First sleepovers are always a mixed bag. Glad that for the most part it went well in spite of having to sleep between them on the floor.
