20 in 20 - April Update

April was spent in lockdown due to the Covid-19 and at present there is no end in sight.  Well a review is due this week but I'm not expecting to see massive changes.  However life goes on, albeit differently so here is my April update:

1. Fill out weekly/daily planner
Well I'm still doing this but it's getting pretty boring as it's pretty much the same every week!

2. Garden projects: Get window boxes for front garden plus big planters. Stepping stones for rear garden.
Nothing new here apart from keeping the grass cut and the bird feeders filled.  Major plans on hold a) due to lockdown and b) hoping to move.

3. Plan a lunch date/date night with Nick once a month (theatre/cinema/meal/outing)
We're still doing our daily walks and we have spent a few evenings playing cards.  Hardly dates lol

4. Eat at 6 new-to-me restaurants
With restaurants closed for the foreseeable future this might not get completed any time soon.

5. Complete the A – Z blogging challenge

Done

6. Plan Family weekend for my birthday
Given up on making any plans right now.

7. Take up an exercise class
Well I might if I could!  Yes I know you're probably all shouting "what about all the online ones?"  but I really can't find the motivation right now.(Yep no change from my March update.)

8. Plan a road trip/holiday with hubby.
Hopefully one day!

9. Visit the beach
At some point!

10. Complete my reading challenge (52 books for the year)
This month was better - I managed to read 7 books so I'm still on track for this.  Of course I have no new library books to read but there are plenty of books on my TBR pile.  Plus I've decided I can justify getting books for my Kindle app from the money we're saving on things like visits to the Hairdressers! Full details can be found on my Goodreads page here.

11. Keep a gratitude diary
March April was not a good month for this.  I need to focus on it more!

12. Blog at least once per week (plus regular memes)
April was a really good month for posts as I took part in the A-Z challenge and still kept up with my regular posts!

13. Take a photo each week and blog about it.
Going to plan.

14. Read 12 books on my TBR pile.

I read 5 books from my TBR pile during April so well on track!

15. Finish knitting WIP (blanket of squares)
Still not finished the WIP but I've finished the blanket I started last month and have started another. More Grandkids on the way!

16. Try out a new recipe or do a bake each month

Well I'm going to  stretch this one a bit.  We are still having HelloFresh deliveries and also Simply Cook from time to time and many of those are new recipes to us.

17. Visit/see Noah every month
We haven't seen him since 29th February so this target definitely won't be met this year.

18. Get damp treatment done in house
At this point in time our house still has a buyer and they are aware that damp treatment is needed.  We reduced our price to reflect that.  Whether we will still have a buyer once restrictions are changed so that we can proceed with the house sale/purchase who knows?

19. Maintain weight
I even managed to lose 1lb!

20. Be kind to myself. Whilst I think it's good to set myself challenges sometimes life gets in the way or I just have days where I really can't be bothered. I need to accept this and not be hard on myself when things don't go to plan.
Ha "sometimes life gets in the way"  little did I know!

Well more ✅ this month than last so I'm pleased with that, all things considered.  I definitely have good days and bad days at present.  Some days I get up, make a list and keep motivated throughout the day.  Others I just want to stay under the duvet and lose myself in a book or mindless games.  And then I feel bad because we are actually in a much better position than so many people and I really have nothing to complain about.  Thankfully Hubby is still talking to me too! 😅

20 in 20 - Weekly Photo #17 - 26/4/20

These were a couple of photos I took while out on my daily walk on Thursday.

It was nearly 8pm so the light was fading.  It had been a day of a glimpse of sunshine followed by a downpour ... and repeat.

I wasn't having the best day - lockdown is a pain!  So the photos probably reflect my mood and then of course it rained, again.  Thankfully I had an umbrella and getting out for some fresh air always helps to lift my mood.

Book Review - Remember Me? - Sophie Kinsella

Remember Me?Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lexi wakes up in a hospital bed after a car accident, thinking it's 2004 and she's atwenty-five-year-old with crooked teeth and a disastrous love life. But, to her disbelief, she learns it's actually 2007 - she's twenty-eight, her teeth are straight, she's the boss of her department - and she's married! To a good-looking millionaire! How on earth did she land the dream life?!

She can't believe her luck - especially when she sees her stunning new home. She's sure she'll have a fantastic marriage once she gets to know her husband again. He's drawn up a 'manual of our marriage', which should help.

But as she learns more about her new self, chinks start to appear in the perfect life. All her old colleagues hate her. A rival is after her job. Then a dishevelled, sexy guy turns up... and lands a new bombshell.

What the **** happened to her? Will she ever remember? And what will happen if she does?

A nice, feel good, easy read. Perfect for reading during the Covid-19 Lockdown period.

Friday's Fave Five - 1/5/20

We are on day 39 of Lock Down here in the UK due to Covid-19.  In these difficult times it's even more important to take a breath from time to time and be positive.  That's why this meme hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is a lovely place to come and share our gratitude and positivity.  Check out the link above to find who else is taking part.

Well we are at the start of a new month and there seems to be no end in sight to the lockdown here.  We were told yesterday that they believe we've passed the first peak but still have a long way to go.  The lockdown is being reviewed next week but although the Government plan to set out its strategy on easing restrictions I'm not sure we'll see many changes any time soon.

To be honest I'm not sure I'll be venturing very far initially anyway.  I do not want to catch this virus.  I do hope that we might be able to see family members soon though.  Not seeing them and especially the Grandkids is getting harder.  Yesterday Nathan was asking why don't Nanny and Grandpa come to see me?  Had me in tears.  It was not a good day.  I took my daily walk and got caught in a downpour.  It felt appropriate for my mood.

But hey today is another day.  There has been more sunshine and there are things to be grateful for:

1)  Delivery services still running.  We've had a food delivery this week (HelloFresh), ink cartridges for the printer, a replacement charger for hubby's work laptop and food for the birds.  All delivered safely and quarantined appropriately.

2)  Jigsaw puzzles.  I did another couple this week and I still have quite a few left that I haven't done.

3)  I met the goals I set myself last week

Well the bedtime routine still isn't great but the Fitbit showed I'd achieved the others.

4)  Walking everyday.  Even though it's been quite wet this week we've managed to get out every day.  (Hubby missed yesterday but he was cooking dinner.)

5)  Apart from our confinement we are fortunate that, so far, we have not really been affected by this virus.  All our family are well and we have not been hit financially either.  I know that's not the case for so many people.

So that's my list for this week.  I know that I have a lot to be grateful for but I can't always stop the negative feelings creeping in from time to time.  Thankfully my hubby is very supportive and, even though we are spending more time together than usual, we have managed not to fall out with one another.  (We've come close a few times but managed to survive!)  Oh and I managed to complete the A-Z blogging challenge!

I hope you and yours are safe and well.
