This is my third year of doing the A-Z challenge. I had high hopes of it being my best yet, in terms of getting posts done on time and visiting/commenting on other blogs, although I knew the first part would be tricky as I was due to be away on a cruise. I prepared enough posts in advance to cover the time I was away and had the remainder part drafted. So far so good.
Then the team threw a huge curveball in removing THE LIST!
Of course there was a big debate over this. I would have preferred it if the list was kept but I could understand the issues the team were having. BUT I also knew I would find it hard to post a link on the days aboard ship.
And then life took another turn. My Grandson arrived - 11 weeks early. I let my published posts go live but I opted out of posting a link on the site as I knew I wouldn't be able to visit and comment on new blogs so it didn't seem fair to invite people to visit me either.
Somehow I managed to finish and publish all my posts with nearly all of them going live on the correct day. I also kept up reasonably well with my regular followers. But that was it.
Did I enjoy it? Yes and No. Yes I was pleased that I managed to complete the posts but No sometimes it was hard and therefore not so enjoyable. Did I feel part of it? Not really but that was my own choice. Will I do it again? Probably but that might depend on how much time that little guy I mentioned earlier is taking up. He is doing really well and we hope he'll be home soon.
I think you did a brilliant job. There must have been days when you really didn't have much energy or creativity left in the pot. But you kept going. I found there was way less involvement from others doing AtoZ than 2 years ago. I'm putting off writing a follow-up post so as not to be negative. Cuppa tea and a think...
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy. You did a brilliant job too. I hope it's rekindled your enjoyment in writing as I always enjoy your posts
DeleteYours is one of several blogs I never discovered until the Reflections posts. I missed the linky a lot, also. I have a lot of catching up to do. In the meantime, sounds like you did quite nicely considering the challenges (congrats on the new grandson!) life threw your way.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new, very early, arrival! How wonderful that your grandson is doing so well. I can very well imagine that made your A to Z journey a whole lot different than expected.
ReplyDeleteI do understand your comments on the list. I am a bit ambivalent about it too, but mostly positive :)
So glad your 'little guy' is doing so well!! I enjoyed your A-Z. You are my only connection who participated this year.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your grandbaby! It's wonderful to hear he's doing well.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't very keen on the lack of the list either. It may have been the reason there seemed to be far few people participating than in previous years.
I think with what you had going on you did a wonderful job!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your grandson is doing better.
