It's the last Friday of the year so time to look back and list some blessings from the last week or so. This weekly event is hosted by Susanne over at Living to Tell The Story. Pop over there to see who else has taken part.
1) Firstly I'm grateful that we've made it to the end of the year with neither Hubby or me getting Covid. We're also double jabbed and boosted so hopefully if we did get it we'd be ok. It's still looming over us and life is not back to normal but staying Covid free is definitely a blessing.
2) We got to celebrate Christmas with all our kids and Grandkids! There was some concern that extra restrictions were going to be put in place the week before but thankfully it didn't happen. I think even if they had restricted gatherings we would just have gone ahead anyway. Our Government doesn't have a good track record for leading by example at the moment so I'm sure lots of people would have just ignored them too.
3) We had plenty of food. There have been some difficulties with supply chains over the last few months and rumours of shortages but I managed to get everything we needed.
4) It's been nice to have a quiet few days once everyone went home. The run up to Christmas was busy but the last couple of days I've been able to relax in some peace and quiet either catching up on TV or reading.
5) I'm grateful that we didn't choose to downsize when we moved last year. We were able to cope with having everyone here, not just for Christmas day but also staying over so that no one had to drive home Christmas evening and we all had Boxing Day together too. Hubby and I did end up on an airbed downstairs which isn't something I'd want to do regularly but I think most of us got a fair amount of sleep!
I'm going to do a separate post about Christmas with some photos but for now Happy New Year to you all!
So glad you had a good Christmas and an overall good 2021. Wishing you many good things in 2022. Happy New Year. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb
DeleteThe best is when every one can get together, especially after being apart for so long.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWe had no restrictions for Christmas and now New Year, anyway we were only 4 but it was very sweet. We all enjoyed our Christmas Eve and also the next day. We have a hotel just two buildings far so they slept there not to give me too much work. For the moment I am rather weak it's probably the stress, the worries and to never know how will be the next day. There is no hope it can only get worse. So nice that you had the whole family together, with little kids it's funny to celebrate, Toby now is too old to believe in Father Christmas, but he makes believe us that he does, lol !
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed to enjoy yourselves. I hope you feel better soon.
DeleteWe actually upsized when we moved last year, and like you, I am glad we did. We were able to accommodate all our out of town family at US Thanksgiving. Isn't it fun when everyone is together?
ReplyDeleteI get the exhaustion bit. My mother-in-law had a wise saying: I love it when you come and I love it when you go.
Here is to a healthy wonderful 2022 with lots of fun, family and books! Happy New Year!
Thanks. And the same to you.
DeleteHappy New Year ... We too have been blessed with food, no shortages for what we need. We also have been healthy.. do pray for that in the new year for all.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too Carla
DeleteHappy new year, Wendy! I think we all have higher hopes for 2022! I have avoided the dreaded disease so far, too, with both shots and my booster. Praise God. Wishing you and yours a blessed and healthy new year! Looking forward to those Christmas pictures!! xo
ReplyDeleteAnd to you too Terri.
DeleteSo glad you were able to get together with family for Christmas! Our Covid numbers have gone up recently. I am so tired of it. We've had some food shortages, too, but were able to get what we needed.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest is still here, but this week has been a lot less busy than the weeks before Christmas. I always have mixed emotions this time of year--eager to get back to routine but not wanting him to leave, either.
I am thankful, too, that we didn't have to downsize yet. It's nice to have space for everyone.
Happy New Year!
Yes the week between Christmas & New Year is a bit of a strange time. Happy New Year to you too Barbara.
DeleteSo happy that you were able to have all your family home for Christmas! That is truly a blessing! And yay for getting everything you needed for the celebration. We've had some shortages too, not just from Covid but also because there was horrible flooding in the western seaboard province that wiped out major highways so trucks were not able to get through. Crazy times.
