2. It's National Polar Bear Plunge Day (January 1)...will you be participating in one of these events (or even your own)? How will you spend the first day of this brand new year? Do you have a traditional New Year's Day menu?
Umm I'm guessing that involves plunging into cold water so definitely not doing that! We don't have a set menu for the day and it's usually a quiet day for us but today we've spent a couple of hours with some of our neighbours which was nice. One of them decided to host a small gathering and laid on a finger buffet for us.
3. What's something that brings you joy and how will you do more of it in this new year?
Spending time with the Grandkids brings me joy but difficult now that 2 of them are so far away. We'll be doing more Facetiming.
4. Do you struggle with the January blues? What's one thing you can/will do to keep them at bay?
I can definitely get caught up with the January blues but I'm going to try to be more present in the blogging community, keep up my reading and get back into walking regularly. The last few weeks I've not exactly been a couch potato but my step count has been very low.
5. Will you choose your own personal word of the year for 2025? What about a goal, resolution, or maybe even a bucket list? Elaborate as much or as little as you like.
I don't usually choose a word and I've found that resolutions are hard to keep. But I do want to walk more, meet the reading challenge (52bookchallenge2025) and generally be more productive with my time.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Our Christmas tree etc will be coming down a little early this year - I usually wait until the 6th January but that's the day the decorators are coming! (Monday) Lots to be sorted out before then.
Being with my grandkids, and with family in general brings me joy too, and I wish it was as easy as saying "I'll just spend more time with them!" Living in a different state makes that a little difficult, but we do our best. Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteThe 52 book challenge sounds intriguing. I glanced at the prompts but need to think if I can actually manage it or not. Walking more is on my list too! Good luck with getting the tree down and everything ready for the decorators. It's such a job but feels good to get it done. Mine is still up but starting that task is on Friday's to-do list. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMy decorations came down earlier than usual, too. It actually feels good to have the house back to normal. No cold water plunges for me either! Wishing you and yours a happy and blessed year ahead!
ReplyDeleteAll the best wishes for you and your loved ones for 2025.
ReplyDeleteWe'll leave the Christmas tree in the living room for a while longer, it's so cozy and we're looking forward to it. The Advent wreath with its four lights will be taken away after the 4th Advent and then we'll put the Christmas tree in the living room on December 24th... and enjoy it well into the new year.
Best wishes from Viola
Our tree is coming down a bit early this year, too. We try to wait until January 6th, but all the festivities took it out of me this year! so I'm looking forward to getting the house back to normal. Happy New Year to you, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteOur tree will be coming down a little later this year. ;-) On the 11th, we love the twinkle lights. Our weather has been very gloomy, twinkle lights help keep the gloom away.
ReplyDeleteI am planning to walk more in 2025!!
Happy New Year!
Carla
Hi Wendy. 2024 was unsettling, and it seems to be continuing. Even though 2025 will never be perfect, I do believe it will be a good year.
ReplyDeleteEverything is down - I mix it up every few years. This year we just wanted a clean slate for the New Year. It feels good.
