Wednesday Hodgepodge - 15/1/24

Joyce hosts the Hodgepodge here.  Pop over to see who else is playing.

1. It's been said January is 'the month of opportunity, inspiration, and change." Which of the three do you need most right now? Elaborate.

Well I think I'm going to need inspiration when the decorators have finished to add the finishing touches to our living room.  We're going to need sofas, curtains etc but I'm not good at picking things out.

2. Do you consider opportunity as something that comes to you or something you create for yourself?

Well I think that some people are very good at creating opportunities but that's not me.  They need to come to me.

3. The British Museum opened on this date (January 15th) back in 1759. Do you like visiting museums? Do you have a favorite?

I do like visiting museums but haven't done much of it since the pandemic really.  I have been to the British Museum though and the Transport museum is good for kids.

4. It's National Oatmeal Month (yes, apparently it gets a whole month as opposed to a single day). Do you like oatmeal? How often do you eat a bowl of oatmeal? How do you like yours? What about an oatmeal cookie? Is that a sweet treat you enjoy?

A whole month of Oatmeal!  No thanks lol.  I do like it but I wouldn't want it everyday.  I usually add something sweet to it.  And yes I'd eat an oatmeal cookie.

5.What's something useful you learned in high school?

I'm sure I learned lots of useful things but none spring immediately to mind.  I do remember wasting a year learning Latin and another year learning Russian neither of which have proved useful during my life.

I think the most useful thing I learned was actually at night classes at the local college and that was Touch Typing.  Such a useful skill and although my speed is not what it was I use it every day.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Well we're almost at the end of the decorating now.  The end is in sight but then we have to move on to updating all the soft furnishings etc. and getting units for storage and display.  We have made some progress on that - we had someone come yesterday to look at the space and discuss what we want.  Hopefully he won't take too long to come back to us with a quote as the lead in time is 12 weeks!  The chaos will continue......
