2. Resister, assister, insister, persister...choose one of the words listed and explain how it relates to you and your life lately.
Well I've always been a resister, particularly of change, I can be pretty insistent about some things (e.g. good manners) and I like to think I'm good at assisting.
Right now though I'm hoping I can be a persister - at getting out and walking most days, eating sensibly and dare I say it, blogging more regularly. Time will tell.
3. Share a favourite song, book, movie, or television program that features sisters.
I'm usually rubbish at remembering titles, storylines etc but one programme I watched and enjoyed recently featuring sisters was "The Split" which features Nicola Walker who I think is a great actress.
4. August 3rd is national watermelon day...are you a fan? Do you like watermelon flavoured candy? Besides eating the melon as is, do you have a good recipe made with watermelon?
No, no and no!
5. 'Tis August...what are three things you're looking forward to this month?
Seeing my youngest son and his family when they return from the US;
Seeing my eldest son and his family and
Catching up with our extended family at our annual get together which we haven't done for the last 2 summers. I think this year's get together is going to be a bit manic - 5 babies were born during lockdown and several of the nieces and nephews have now got long term partners. So looking forward to it though.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Well it's been a while since I did a Hodgepodge post. My blogging output generally hasn't been great but trying to get back into it. All credit to Joyce for coming up with the questions every week. Huge commitment. Thank you.
It's always so fun to meet those pandemic babies! We had a get together with my family that we hadn't seen in two years and I got to meet my cousin's son for the very first time! Enjoy your get togethers!
ReplyDeleteThanks. we're all looking forward to it.
DeleteThe Hodgepodge is always a fun place to meet and catch up.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is!
DeleteYour family gathering sounds like fun! Enjoy meeting all the newbies and getting reacquainted in person with everyone. Blogging is not easy in this season (nor is exercising-ha!). Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteExercising in the heat we've been having is definitely not easy!
DeleteGood to see your post pop up. Wow that's a lot of sisters your hubby has! Glad you get along with them. Enjoy that family gathering with all those new babies. Happy August to you!
ReplyDeletethanks Ellen
DeleteI hope you family get-together will be lots of fun!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy
DeleteHi Wendy, I did not get the hodgepodge done today.. but hopefully will get back at it more as well. Summer is always such a busy time for me.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who had a baby 7 months after me, she had a boy too. Then we both had boys two years later one week apart. ;-) The friendship is a lot like what you share in your answer.

I think friends made with babies like that tend to be ones to keep!
DeleteI enjoyed learning more about your family and extended family!! This is a fun Hodgepodge! But you don't like watermelon? I love it in season when they are so sweet! Happy Wednesday! xo
ReplyDeleteI don't really dislike watermelon. I just don't love it enough to buy it.
DeleteThe hodgepodge seems fun. It's good that you have a friend who is like a sister to you and nice in-laws too. I am also not a fan of watermelon, but for some reason I enjoy the flavoured sweets. Enjoy the reunions with your family!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've never tried watermelon flavoured sweets - or at least I may have done without knowing what the flavour was lol
Delete6 sisters ! poor man, lol ! Rick had only one and she is 10 years older this year I think she will be 90. The rest of his family passed away too, the only one which remains is his niece. From my side I don't have any family anymore except Dario as my father broke all contacts with his family for inheritance fights ! I love water melons and when I was in Djerba I ate probable half of one per day ! Rick too he loved them.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers. That's awesome that you have a friend that is like a sister.
