Just Jot it January - Day 11 - Wednesday

Well it's Wednesday today so the prompt for Just Jot it January is to use One Liner Wednesday.

Hmm this isn't something I usually join in with and I'm not known for my brevity so one line is a real challenge.

Linda suggests trying to make if funny or inspirational.  

Let me introduce you to Hoppy (the one legged pigeon) who regularly visits our garden:

Not the greatest picture but I enjoy watching him, (her?) and the other birds visiting the bird feeder while I try to come up with inspiration.

Just Jot it January - Day 10 - Periwinkle

Today's prompt for Just Jot it January is Periwinkle which looks like this.

I know, because Google told me so.

My garden consists of 2 rectangular areas of grass, 2 raised beds containing lavender, some strawberry plants and a rose bush that has seen better day and a patio area that has some pots and containers on it.

It is extremely low maintenance and there is plenty of space for the grandkids to run around.

Not a periwinkle in sight.  In fact at the moment not much in sight at all.  The pots which were pretty in the summer all need a good overhaul.  I did buy some bulbs to plant in them but alas I think I might be too late for that now.  We haven't exactly had gardening weather lately.  First there was the snow we had that lingered for ages and since then lots and lots of rain.  On Sunday we had torrential rain.

Yesterday I was determined to get out for a walk as it was dry and there was even some sunshine.  Well it was dry as in it wasn't raining but the forest was far from dry.  I'm not sure I've seen it more muddy.  The river level was probably the highest I've seen it and where it goes down under the road that runs across the bottom of our lake it was really fast.

Definitely needed my wellies!

Just Jot it January - Day 9 - Endurance

Just Jot it January - Day 8 - Friendship

Go here for all the details on this challenge.  Today's prompt is Friendship.

I have never been one for having a long list of friends.  I don't enjoy being the centre of attention and I'm not a great socialiser.  But I do have a short list of very good friends.

One of them I met properly just after I had my first child and she was about to have her first child too.  Our kids are in their 30s now and we are still the best of friends.  We don't see each other as often now but it's the sort of friendship where we just pick up where we left off.

I also keep in touch with people that I worked with.  With 3 of them we regularly take it in turn to host a "Ladies Lunch" and others I meet up with in a pub where we'll eat and drink and catch up on our lives.

But I'm also blessed with a big extended family having married into a family where I gained 6 sister-in-laws who I can definitely count as friends.   

I'm a person who's very happy in her own company but I'm also lucky to have friends I can count on.
