Have fun!
1. June 23rd is National Pink Day. What's your favourite
something pink?.
One of my favourite pink things is the
dress my daughter wore for her end of school prom. It was a ball gown with a full skirt and lots
of tulle. There were black flowers on the
material but of course the main reason I liked it was because she looked such a
picture in it.
2. What did you enjoy most about gym class when you were in school? How about the
least?
I did not enjoy gym class at all. I was very skinny as a child and very self-conscious.
3. What memory is brought to mind by the smell of roses?
My parents. They both loved roses and we had them in our garden when I was growing up. I tried growing some in my own garden but wasn’t very successful

4. Do you prefer to read or write?
I enjoy doing both but I read more than I
write. And I don’t think I “write” as
such. Maybe one day.
5. Sam Keen is quoted as saying, 'Deep summer is when laziness finds
respectability.' Would you agree? Is laziness ever respectable? How will
you be lazy this summer?
I’d definitely agree because some days it’s just too hot to be doing very much and you need to slow down. Of course that’s not possible for everyone but I often feel I’m being lazy since I stopped working. But then I look at what I’ve achieved each day rather than focussing on what still needs to be done. So I’m sure I’ll be lazy with reading and blogging and lunching with friends in between trying to be productive and make progress on my to do list this summer.

6. The Florida Keys, Disney World, or a resort somewhere on the Gulf Coast...which
Florida destination would you choose (and why) if the trip were today?
Well I don’t know enough about Florida to
make an informed choice but I’d be looking for somewhere with a quiet beach and
a nice pool for me to relax but with places to explore for hubby. And then interesting places to eat at the end
of the day.
7. What question do you hate to answer?
Where shall we go on holiday?
Hubby and I find it hard to agree on that one.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I’m not calling myself retired just yet but
if I can get used to being respectably lazy I might not be finding another job
anytime soon.
Hi, just visiting from the Hodgepodge. I enjoyed your answers. Hope you enjoy your summertime off.
ReplyDeleteI too was a skinny kid and very self conscious. Those open showers for young teenage girls were a nightmare or at least for me. As a three-year retiree, I can vouch for the lifestyle. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteMaking that decision to retire was a really tough one for me, but since doing it five years ago, it has been great! I am glad I did it although sometimes I miss the routine of work and also the people I worked with. I don't miss the stress and I'm glad I'm not dealing with traffic anymore.
ReplyDeleteYour Florida answer sounds great. I love to try out new eateries, and it would be fun to find places to explore, plus great places to read and on the beach, sounds like heaven to me. I might add in fun places to shop, but that would be my heaven, not yours.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean for #7! One person wants to go here and the other doesn't etc. I think most of us dreaded gym class. ;/
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. The pink dress with black accents make me think of Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink - the film. Of course, now I'm humming the Psycadellic Furs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and I think you have "earned" the right to be lazy if you want to. :o)) It's so hot here that if I could I would be lazy but we're so busy with the last weeks of construction on our new house. Happy rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's prom dress sounds beautiful. I tend to wear a lot of pink with black and white. Nice combination.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'd like a vacation beside some water with a good book.
I always say it's not WHERE you go, but WHO you're with that makes the trip...I answered Disney because of my kids, but I'd love a simple cabin in the woods near water, quiet, serene. I can do my favorite things: kayak, fish, BBQ and spend time with my family. A time to be lazy! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with Lea - if you're retired, you've probably paid your dues and earned a little R&R. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI really like reading the hodgepodge posts. I really must try and join in.
ReplyDeleteNational pink day? How could I have missed that? I wonder who Invents all these odd days? I LOVE anything pink as you know so no idea what I would choose as a favourite. I would however love to have a pink car! Yes really. Maybe one day I can get Simon to restore me a little old Beetle or something and have it done in pink!
Your daughters prom dress sounds just romantic and lovely. xx oo
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted on where you do decide to take a vacation. :-) Your ideas sounds lovely to me.
Happy Weekend,
Carla
So many did not like gym class and many for the same reasons. Florida has gorgeous beaches so I don't think you could go wrong. Have a great week :)
