Wednesday Hodgepodge - 13/6/18

Wednesday's Hodgepodge is brought to us courtesy of Joyce at
Pop over there to see other posts and if you want to join in add the link to your Hodgepodge blog post to the Linky List at the end of Joyce's post and don’t forget to visit at least your neighbours on the list.
Have fun!

1. What happens to the mail at your house?

A lot of it will go in the recycling box.  Most of our bills are now online so we don’t get a lot of mail.  I sort it and leave hubby’s on his desk, any that we still get for the kids (and yes we do even if they have all moved out now!) stays on the stairs until I next get a chance to hand it over and the rest I deal with.  Sometimes on the day but not always.

2. Something you always splurge on? Any guilt associated with the splurge?
Getting my hair done, as in coloured and highlighted.  It’s expensive but I think I’m worth it! lol

3. There are many, but what are two important questions you think every bride and groom should ask/answer before they plan their walk down the aisle?

For me one of the most important ones is “How do you feel about children?” and then of course follow ons from that as in e.g. “what if we can’t have them”

4. What's the best advice your father ever gave you?
Sadly I lost my Dad when I was 22.  I don’t remember a time when he sat me down and gave me advice but he led by example and I think the best thing I picked up from him and my Mum was never sleep on an argument.  Things left to fester don’t heal too well.

5. Your favourite movie where a father features heavily in the storyline?

Hmm not exactly a favourite but Kramer v Kramer certainly fits that bill but I also enjoyed Regarding  Henry.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I swear that time passes more quickly as you get older.  I’m finding it hard to fit everything in at the moment.  I’m grateful for all the comments I get on my blogs.  I’m trying to keep up with the blogs I usually follow but am struggling to interact – I wish Blogger had a “Like” button so you’d at least know I’d dropped by.  I’d also like them to fix the e-mail notifications of comments.  Made it so much easier to respond to comments on whatever device I’m using at the time for e-mail.  Checking them out directly on my blog is something I usually only do on my laptop so it’s not happening as much as I’d like.  Ha a random thought?  Sounds more like a muddled rant or a Wendy’s Waffle.

  1. I'm also sad that blogger no longer emails the comments to me. I don't like when they make changes that don't make things better.

  2. That's a very good question for #3. And i agree about blogger not sending email notifications. It is very inconvenient because now i have to sit at my laptop rather than answering on my phone, and the reason i blog so seldom is that I'm trying to sit less. Have a wonderful day, Wendy.

  3. OH!!! Your answer to number 3! Necessary! After several miscarriages, I had a hysterectomy at 24 and we went on to adopt through foster care. When my son was 21 he was desperate to find (and settle for) a wife so he could be a dad. My daughter asked him "what if you choose someone and find out they can't have kids like mom?" And he legitly said "Then I'll leave her." While both of my daughters were devastated, and my husband was livid (and of course, I was hurt, though I never told him that) he couldn't be faulted for feeling that way. Especially since he knew he deeply wanted to be a father AND that the family method we had was a very difficult journey for everyone... It's an important conversation for sure!

  5. So many of us are in agreement on the Blogger email issue. I wonder if we could do something collectively to get their attention. Your answer to #3 was a very interesting thought. I have a nephew who is in that very situation and it's sad that they can't agree on something so important. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  6. Oh no, I don't want to hear that time passes faster when you're older. I would hope it'd slow down, as it isn't go-go-go all the time. But maybe it just depends on how you view things. :)

  7. I agree about time passing faster. Never have I wished it would slow down like I do now!

  8. Hi,
I really like how you answered #3, something for me to share with my boys.
I agree about Blogger and the e mails. I enjoyed receiving comments as e mails.

  9. It's crazy busy around here too, so I'm feeling the same. A like button would be fantastic, I wish they'd add that. We 'lived' with my mom for about six weeks after we sold our NJ house, but before we could get into our SC rental. My mom has received three jury duty notices for my hubs. We were barely there and that was 2015, but somehow his name is in the system still. I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it sorted every time. Does not inspire confidence in the government agency running it. Have a great weekend!

  10. Getting your hair done can be expensive, but it's such a lovely indulgence, makes you feel great, and a really relaxing experience. I also love when they give you a head massage :-)
