Friday's Fave five 24/2/17

It's Friday so it must be time to join Suzanne for Friday's Fave Five. Click here for full details.

Here are my blessings and thoughts on this week:

1)  So grateful for the supportive network this blogging world is.  I posted on my Hodgepodge post this week about my brother's health issues and the response from all those who visited my blog was wonderful.   Thank you to all those who will be offering up prayers.

2)  Thankful that storm Doris swept through pretty quickly and for us didn't cause any major problems.  Unfortunately at least one person died and several were badly injured due to the high winds bringing down trees and roof tiles etc.

3)  A surprise visit from our eldest son.  He was trying to return home to Nottingham from Swansea on the day of Doris and could only get as far as London.  We were more than happy to provide him with dinner and a bed for the night.  He's now safely back in Nottingham.

4)  Glad that I managed to get my grass cut the day before Doris dumped a whole load of rain on it.  It's the first cut of the year so it was already quite long and hard to cut but if I'd missed that opportunity it would have been even harder.  Especially as today we have some nice sunshine!

5)  Social networking.  I know there is a lot of negative stuff out there at the moment, which I try to just ignore, but it enables me to keep track of my future grandson's progress and my son and DIL's new babies - Joe and Ness, retired greyhounds.  Apparently the baby is about the size of a Barbie doll right now although I did suggest to my daughter that he ought to be compared to Ken or as she responded GI Joe!  Just glad to know he's ok.

So a good week for me.  I also got more walking done and we've started to decorate the next room on the to do list.  My knitting project also made progress.  I might have to have a relaxing weekend!  Hope you do too.

  1. Glad your storm didn't cause you any major damage and that your son made it ok.
How fun to have grass already to cut.....it is still winter here but at least our snow has all melted! NYS has had some very spring like weather this week for which we are glad.
Social media can be so negative but I, like you, love looking at photos of my friends' families and posting about my daughters' accomplishments, etc. It's a fun way to stay connected to friends who are long distance.
Someday I want to visit London...it is on our bucket list :)
    Have a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

I do like social media to keep up with my friends and family. I just try to ignore the negative.

  4. Hi, Wendy! I'm visiting from Friday's Fave Five. I'm glad that you were kept safe during the storm. Surprise visits from loved ones are always a favorite of mine!agree with you that social networking can have it's downside. I still prefer blogging to other forms of social media, although I haven't blogged much over the past couple of years. Enjoy your weekend!

  5. I am so glad to hear of your safety in the storm, and your son's as well in his travels. Glad he got to spend an unexpected night at home, too - that's always fun.

I enjoy social media, too, despite the negative stuff there. I love being able to keep in touch with loved ones.

I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's health issues and pray that the treatment will work for him.

  8. I'm glad you were spared destruction from the storm. The area around us had a lot of trees falling down. We are thousands and thousands of miles apart but experiencing similar storms.
Such good and happy news about your grandbaby!
I will go check your post about your brother--hope all goes well.

  9. Ah, Wendy, good things for you this week -- and timely, too! Especially the visit from your eldest. And good to know that you can connect with family and little GI Joe and keep up with news with the technology available.

  10. Glad the storm didn't hit you as bad as it could have and that your son had safe travels. Haven't had a chance to be on the blogs much this week so I'll have to go and read your post about your brother.
