Wednesday Hodgepodge 15/2/17

Wednesday's Hodgepodge is brought to us courtesy of Joyce at
Pop over there to see other posts and if you want to join in add the link to your Hodgepodge blog post to the Linky List at the end of Joyce's post and don’t forget to visit at least your neighbours on the list.

1. What do/did you call your grandparents? If it's something unusual tell us the story behind the name. If you're a grandparent what do your grands call you? Who chose your moniker?
I only knew one set of grandparents and they were Nan and Grandad.  I’m planning on being Nanny to my expected Grandson (my choice) but I’m open to being adaptable if he has other ideas!
2. Ever taken a road trip along the California Coast? If so what was the highlight of your trek? If not, any desire to do so? If you were to take a trip along the California Coast what's one attraction you'd have on your must-see list?
Haven’t been and don’t honestly have any urge to do so.  If hubby had his way we’d be visiting the wine regions.
3. What are three things you don't know how to do? Only 3? lol
Play the piano.  (Or any musical instrument except maybe the recorder.)
Speak a foreign language.
Fly a plane.
4. Tom Peters is quoted as saying, 'Celebrate what you want to see more of.' If that's true what will you celebrate and more importantly, how will you celebrate?
Well family is the most important thing to me and of course ours is expanding this year.  So I want to spend plenty of time with the new grandson.  Our son and his wife have also just taken on two retired greyhounds so we’re looking forward to meeting them.
5. Thursday (February 16) is National Almond Day. Do you like almonds? Which would you prefer-an Almond Joy or a macaron? What's something you make that calls for almonds?
I don’t particularly like almonds but a bakewell tart definitely calls for almonds.
6. What does Saturday morning look like at your house?
Lazy and relaxed.  Hubby will usually cook breakfast (or sometimes my son and his wife will) and then he will go and get the paper and any shopping we might need.  Then we usually do the pub quiz in the paper.  It can get quite competitive.
7. Share with us a favorite book you've read this winter.
“After You” by Jojo Moyes. This is the sequel to “Me Before You” which I loved.  I wondered how it would compare because the first book was so great but it didn’t disappoint.
8.  Insert your own random thought here.
Been a while since I did a jigsaw but the Harry Potter was a gift from my daughter that I've had for ages so I finally got around to it today.
Gave up on the Monet though.

  4. Family is also very important to me, but unfortunately not for my DIL, so w mostly are with son and grandson. Grandson was never allowed to stay alone with us ! They had Toby late and and travelled around the world before, so now they are concentrating only on this poor child !

  5. Sounds like a fun Saturday! I wish I would have read this before I just placed an Amazon order, I really want to read "After You." I put in my cart for next time :) I haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in a long time.
