Wednesday Hodgepodge - 11/4/18

Wednesday's Hodgepodge is brought to us courtesy of Joyce at

Pop over there to see other posts and join in - the Linky List is at the end of Joyce's post and don’t forget to visit at least your neighbours on the list.

1. April is National Jazz Appreciation Month. Are you a fan? If so what's a favoirite you'd recommend to someone new to jazz listening?
I do like some jazz but not the totally improvised sort and I’m definitely not an expert so wouldn’t have any recommendations.
2. Mandolin, ukulele, harp, accordion or banjo...which would you be most interested in learning to play? Or do you already play one of the instruments listed?
I think I would be pretty useless at all of those  but hubby would give the ukulele a go.
3. Do you judge a book by it's cover? Elaborate. You may answer in either/both the literal or figurative sense of the word.
I try not to when it comes to books although sometimes it’s easy to get sucked in by the blurb on the back and it looks good but doesn’t always live up to expectations.
4. According to a recent study the ten most nutritious foods are-almonds, cherimoya (supposed to taste like a cross between a pineapple/banana), ocean perch, flatfish (such as flounder and halibut), chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, swiss chard, pork fat (shocking! but I don't think they mean bacon), beet greens, and red snapper. Are any of these foods a regular part of your diet? Any you've never ever tasted? Which would you be most inclined to add to your diet?
I’m not a lover of the texture of nuts and seed so I’d give most of those a miss.  We eat the chard and fish, never heard of beet greens and doesn’t sound that appetising to me but I do like a bit of fat on my pork!
5. Besides a major holiday what is the most recent thing you've celebrated with your people? Tell us how.
Grandson Nathan’s 1st birthday!  The girls hired a room in a local pub and invited immediate family and friends, including two families who were in the NICU with them.  It was good to see how all their babies had progressed.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Glad to be here this week as I’m trying to complete the A-Z Challenge this month and it’s keeping me busy.  As is Nathan – I’m now looking after him 2 days per week as my daughter has gone back to work part time.  But I’m loving it! Especially when I can get him to sleep like this.

  1. I can totally feel with you, about the sleeping part and miss it. Last year my daughter worked part time too, and I had Elia for 3 mornings. And when you get them to sleep, it feels like a power rush!haha
Seems like you are one of the few who likes Jazz, so far from the blogs I've read.

  2. What a blessing to your daughter to know Nathan is in such good hands. My kids are now 14 and 9 and I've been having some baby withdrawal! I wouldn't want another myself, but I'd sure like to snuggle one once in awhile!

  6. Hello,
Isn't something how fast they grow up. My son turned 18 April 7th. I do wonder, how on earth did it go so fast.

  7. Wow-a year old already! Sounds like a lovely celebration. How fortunate you are to be close enough to watch him for your daughter a couple of days a week! I just enjoyed a week with my grandson and then he'll be here for a visit next month which made leaving a bit easier.
