Friday's Fave Five 6/5/16

http://susannesspace.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/fridays-fave-five-378.html
It's Friday so it's time to join in with Suzanne's Friday's Fave Five.

It's a place to come on Friday's and think back over your week and just post about 5 favourite things from your week. It can be anything that tickled your fancy over the week. Favourite quotes, posts, happenings, scriptures, recipes, pictures, great internet finds, etc., etc.

If you want to take part or visit other Fave Five posts, click on the picture above to go to host Suzanne's site and check out the linky list.

Here are my five:

1.  Family time.  Last weekend was spent with hubby, our 3 children and their partners in a lovely house in the Cotswolds.  It's the first time we've all been away together without any other extended family members and it was lovely.

2.  We had a delicious meal cooked for us at the weekend (it's my daughter's 30th birthday soon).  This was the menu:
3.  One of the things we did while away was clay pigeon shooting.  Something I'd never done before (only 2 of us had!) and although I had quite a sore shoulder afterwards we really enjoyed it.
Birthday girl on the right.
Hats, glasses and ear protectors were mandatory.

4.  I mentioned earlier this week that I was waiting in for someone to hopefully repair my washing machine.  Turns out it was going to be quite expensive to repair so we've opted for a new one.  I'm just thankful that we are able to do that without worrying about how to afford it.

5.  I'm also thankful for good health this week having had bad news recently about two friends.  You never know what's around the corner.

  2. I remember once going out with a group to shoot clay pigeons! I never shot one while it was in the air!! So my son would throw them on the ground for me to shoot. It was a hoot!! Happy Friday!

  3. A nice list for us this Friday. The menu sounds really good and how nice to have someone else prepare it for you and the birthday girl! Great way to celebrate!

  4. Your family get-away sounds wonderful! I have never shot clay pigeons, either. Sounds like a fun family time! Glad you could get your washer replaced. I know what you mean about #5.

  5. Family get-aways are great. Glad it was so special ... and that is quite the birthday menu!

I once shot clay pigeons ... I missed it by a mile! (Ok, exaggerating but still I know it's not the sport for me.)

It's always good when we can replace something and it not devastate the budget!

  6. It really is true that you never know what's around the corner. Glad you are healthy. Clay shooting...that would be interesting. I'm not sure I could come close to shooting the target. How nice to have a getaway with your family. Have a wonderful weekend. I so enjoyed our time in the Cotswolds!

  8. What a nice birthday menu ! Today it's not worthwhile anymore to repair household appliances, they are all made to last more or less 10 years and then you have to buy a new one ! That keeps companies going ! It's the same with the shoes, it's difficult to find a shoemaker to repair shoes, at least here, it's less expensive to buy new once. We have wonderful weather today and according to the European weather forecast we are the warmest country in Europe this weekend ! That goes into history !

  10. You're right--we should never take good health for granted. While we can, we should do things like clay pigeon shooting, visiting the Cotswolds and enjoying family time.

  11. It's lovely getting away with just immediate family. That menu looks delicious and the clay pigeon shooting sounds like fun. I've always wanted to try that.

  12. Family time is the sweetest, especially as the kids become adults and it's harder to get everyone together. Clay pigeon shooting is a lot of fun. It's been years since I've done that, but it's challenging and fun competition with the right group. Enjoy your week, Wendy.
