Review: The Lake House

The Lake House The Lake House by Kate Morton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Really enjoyed this book. Sadie Sparrow, on leave from her job as a detective with Met Police in London, visits her grandfather in Cornwall. She stumbles across Loeanneth, a deserted house by a lake and discovers the house was subject to a family tragedy when in 1933 the youngest child of the family,Theo Evedene, disappeared.

The book switches between past and present as Sadie gradually unravels the mystery having gained help from Theo's elder sister Alice, now an octogenarian and a respected crime writer.

There are a few red herrings and it's quite long but it's well written and engaging. My only criticism is that all the loose ends relating to the past and the present are wrapped up rather too neatly at the end.

  1. Sometimes books that keep switching back and forth make me a little nuts. This one might be good though! Thanks for the review!
