Wednesday Hodgepodge 20/7/16

Wednesday's Hodgepodge is brought to us courtesy of Joyce at
Pop over there to see other posts and if you want to join in add the link to your Hodgepodge blog post to the Linky List at the end of Joyce's post and don’t forget to visit at least your neighbours on the list.
Have fun!

1. Pokemon Go...your thoughts? Are you playing? Do you even know what it is?
I know what it is but I’m not playing.  Seems like a dangerous activity in some ways.
2. What was something you collected as a child? Do you still have that collection? If you're a parent what's something your own children collected? Have you ever camped out, stood in a crazy long queue, or paid a ridiculous sum for a 'collectible'?
Never camped out or queued for anything.  I did collect stamps for a bit but not for long and I don’t have them now.
3. "Collect moments, not things"...tell us about a moment you've added to your collection this summer.
None yet but we have 3 weddings in August so I’m sure there will be several moments to come.
4.  What's something collecting dust in your home right now? Any plans to do something about it?
Well there’s lots of clutter collecting dust that I’m gradually working through to either get rid of or find homes for but I also have the wedding dresses from my daughter’s wedding last year hanging in my house as they “couldn’t possibly find room for them in the flat!”
5. A favorite song relating to time?
The first song I thought of was Turn back Time by Cher but the video I found for that was quite raunchy so I opted for this instead:  Eva Cassidy, Time after Time.

6. What's been your most frightening or your most interesting encounter with wildlife?
What springs to mind is a recurring dream I sometimes have of coming face to face with snakes in a huge pit at the zoo.  I have a phobia of snakes and in the dream I rush up to a wall and jump up to look down into the pit only to find it swarming with snakes.  Of course that’s not how snakes are kept so it’s interesting to see how the mind works.
7.  On July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong set his foot down on the moon. If you could travel to the moon would you go? Why or why not?
No I wouldn’t go.  There are lots of places I’d rather visit here on Earth.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I spent some time with Poppy on Monday.  She is looking so much better although it was hard seeing her having to wear a Babygro with mittens in this current heatwave but she needs the mittens to stop her pulling her feeding tube out of her nose as that would mean a hospital trip to get it re-inserted.  Ordinary mittens are no good as she just pulls them off!  As for the heatwave, I am glad not to be working so that I can just slow down and only do the absolute minimum before finding the coolest place in the house and turning on a fan.

  2. I'm happy to read the update on Poppy. I have been praying for her daily, Wendy, and it is good to see she is looking better. Lots of us had snake stories for our #6 answer today! Only one other person I've read said they would like to go to the moon. Not me! Your August will be filled with love since you have three weddings coming up!

    1. We love complaining about the weather though, either too hot, too cold, too wet lol If it did what we expect it to do we'd have much less to talk about ;)

It's pretty hot up here in The Mitten too.

  7. I'm glad that Poppy is doing better, but so sorry she has to be hot so that she doesn't pull out the tube. Maybe the heatwave won't last much longer for you all.

I think that your snake dream is a very interesting one. I didn't even think of my dream life when I answered this question. When I was a little girl, I had a dream of being chased across rooftops by a werewolf. It finally caught up with me and bit me on the back. In reality, I am sure it was my little sister that bit me, though Mama said it was a mosquito that got me. Yeah, my sister was the mosquito. haha

It sounds like August is going to be very exciting and busy for you!

    Have a blessed day. :)

  8. I agree, snakes do more to us in our dreams than they ever could in the real world.

  9. I enjoyed your answers...glad to read about Poppy, and as for the heat wave, I am sure everyone is tired of it, I had no idea it had reached you over there. smiles

  10. Oh, wow! Three weddings in August. Busy times!
I'm glad Poppy's doing better. I began to sweat just thinking about her long sleeves and mittens in July, but we do what we must, don't we?

  11. I'm not a fan of snakes either. I still get the willies with the scene in Indiana Jones when he is lowered into a room full of snakes. Ugh! Thanks for stopping by my blog page.
