A is for Architecture.... A-Z Challenge 2017

My theme for the 2017 challenge is waffling on about random words!

That might not seem like a theme but if you read on you’ll discover it’s not quite as random as it sounds.  The words were generated using a word generator ( and I opted for 4 words each day.  I might focus on one or try and incorporate them all into the post.

Choosing the words this way has given me a challenge and a common thread to my posts but it has also allowed me to be myself and just waffle!  It’s what I’m good at. (Don’t worry, I’m aiming for around 500 words per post so  hopefully you won’t get stuck here for too long 😉 )
And the words for today are….

Admission and

Well I’m certainly no expert on architecture.  I can’t tell my Greeks from Romans or even my Victorians from Edwardians although I do know our house is Victorian.  Which means it’s old and constantly needing tender loving care.  Not that it gets much TLC when hubby has an addiction to his guitar.  Well he seems to be permanently attached to it.

I find puzzles and games addictive.  Give me a Sudoku, a logic challenge or heaven forbid Candy Crush and I can quite happily while away a few hours.

Now there’s an admission for you.  Must be something to do with my age!

Fortunately, it’s currently Lent as I’m preparing these posts and I’ve removed all the time wasting games such as Candy Crush etc. from my iPad and phone.  It’s taken a bit of getting used to but it has given me more time for other things.

I must admit my finger hovered over the delete button for a while but it was a good feeling knowing that those little icons would not be there to distract me from more important things like blogging and social media.  (I hope you weren’t expecting me to say things like decorating or cleaning there!)

I know of several friends who remove themselves from Facebook for Lent but I couldn’t face going that far!  Although I was tempted to ditch Twitter as I’ve never really got the hang of it.  Limiting yourself to only 140 characters doesn’t sit well with me.  Why use one word when a sentence could be so much better?  Yes I’m one of those annoying people who doesn’t do text speak and my e-mails still look like letters.  I’m a fan of “Grammarly” and I can be pedantic but mostly I’m just full of waffle.

Do you have an addiction or admission you’d like to share?

  1. All the best for Lent! I have Ramadan (Muslim fasting season) coming up in June and I shall be fasting a month in summer! I do hope yours go well! I don't close off social media during fasting season instead I switch to faith blogging and my experience of the fasting season.

It was great to visit you for the A to Z Challenge. I can only differentiate Greek from Romans because I went to Rome and the tourist guide differentiated the architectural traits of both. Greeks made white pillars, Romans used red bricks!

  2. Sorry, my signature link failed to work so I am reposting that part.

  3. I gave up Facebook long ago...I just can't get into Candy Crush...however, I am hooked on Flow Free. With my husbands recent health diagnose, we have given up quite a few things; sweets being one of them. smiles

    1. I'd find giving up sweets hard on my own but I'm sure if hubby had to do it so would I. (Except for the few I'd sneak away quietly lol)

  4. I removed myself from facebook for lent and don't miss it at all. I am addicted to crossword puzzles though! Oh well, good for the brain, right?

    1. Definitely good for the brain. I'm terrified of going down the dementia road having seen it first hand with my Mum so I'm always trying to stretch my brain!

  5. No addictions (unless you count food!) I will enjoy your A-Z and think you have chosen well!

  6. Great idea for a theme that suits your personal blog style with the added bonus of a bit of brain bending to accommodate the words thrown up to challenge you.
I love a good sudoku too. And my husband and I do crosswords together in bed on the weekend. That's about as intimate and sexy as we get these days!
And I AM sorry to see your poor husband's uncomfortable connection with his guitar !?! Lol

  7. I gave up commenting on Facebook for Lent. And that has been hard enough. Especially with our political turmoil here in the States. And I have so much to say!! I like this idea for a theme. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

I love receiving comments and will do my best to acknowledge them, either by replying here or dropping in on your blog.
