Life in Lockdown - D is for Dithering - A-Z Challenge 2021

#AtoZChallenge 2021 April Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter D

Well this letter has had me dithering.  Originally I jotted down DIY as a possible word but we haven’t actually done much DIY during lockdown.  This is mainly because my hubby does not do DIY.  This is a good thing.  He’s good at lots of things and he does the majority of the cooking but DIY is definitely not his strong point.  We have done some assembling of IKEA furniture during the last year – we moved house and new items were required but that’s about it.  Simple things will be attempted, tricky things like putting a bracket up on the wall for the TV will require getting someone in.  Not a lot of DIY to talk about so I crossed that off the list.

I then moved on to thinking about deliveries.  There has been an item in the news this week about the pressure on Amazon delivery drivers with all the increase in online orders that have resulted from everyone staying home.  I rarely use Amazon (apart from Kindle purchases which of course get delivered electronically) but it has made me determined to only use them if I absolutely have to and preferably not at all.  I think you either love or hate Amazon but they do seem to have a monopoly on getting things to you quickly.

But back to dithering.  (A bit like waffling so I'm an expert.) Or can I be bothered?  There’s been a lot of that during lockdown, particularly in this last period of lockdown which, probably due to the time of year, i.e. winter has seemed harder than the earlier 2 full lockdowns.  Even blogging, something I usually really enjoy, has taken a hit.  Everything feels like it’s on hold.  Which of course it is in a way but life is still going on, just in a different way which I’m finding hard to embrace.

I even dithered about doing this challenge even though I’ve done it for the past 6 years and even when I’ve been chasing my tail to get posts finished I have enjoyed it.  I didn’t even do a theme reveal post this year – how could I when I wasn’t sure what my theme might be although I know I work better with one.  I’ve used a theme each year, including one of random words that I used a word generator for so there was a continuity in my posts full of waffle.

This time last year we had just gone into our first lockdown and were still hoping to move house so that gave me a good theme.  For anyone returning here just for the A-Z challenge, we did manage to move!  A year on though and we seem to have dug ourselves into quite a rut.

But, I promised myself in my 21 things to do in 2021 to be more positive.  We’ve actually had 3 very special deliveries during lockdown and I’ll definitely be writing about those later in the challenge.

Phew I think this will constitute as a post.  4 down, only 22 to go!  (I’m trying to write a minimum of 500 words and I’ve just tipped past that today.)

  3. D for dithering is a good one. I have to agree with you about the difficulties of this present lockdown. Making decisions is hard when you lack motivation.

  4. I buy my life from Amazon. *haha* I started using their online store when they first opened, as I love to give books as gifts. Now I use them for everything: gifts, household items, groceries, the list is endless. When the problem arose about distributing the COVID vaccine, I said: "Just turn the vaccine over to Amazon... they'll get it where it needs to go in no time!" :) ~Andrea xoxo
