Friday's Fave Five - 3/1/20

Hey it's Friday and I'm here!  Time to look back and reflect on the good things from the past week although as there was no FFF last week I'm looking back on the last two weeks.

This meme is hosted by Susanne over at "Living to Tell the Story".  Pop over there to see who else is taking part.

1)  Christmas celebrations going to plan.  Our quiet dinner for 4 plus Grandson Nathan developed into dinner for 12 plus Nathan and a dog thrown into the mix.  Fortunately I'm used to planning and cooking for large numbers so it was all fine and I think we all had a good time!

2)  Quality time with Nathan and his Mummies.  We stayed there from Christmas Eve until the day after Boxing day.

3)  Quality time with Noah and his parents.  They arrived last Sunday and are here until Sunday. It's been lovely having so much time with Noah and I babysat him last night and he didn't make a peep.

4)  Being in the right place at the right time.  I popped into my GP surgery today to organise a prescription and I also wanted to make an appointment for a women's screening procedure and was told I could have it done there and then.  I was a bit taken aback but decided to  get it over and done with.  No time like the present!

5)  Being retired.  I couldn't have done all what we've done over Christmas had I still been working or helped out at the drop of a hat like we had to on Wednesday.  Our son and DIL arrived back from Vermont to find they had been burgled while away.  They've lost 2 laptops and some cash and the place was a tip where all their drawers and cupboards had been emptied out but there was no real damage done and thankfully they are insured.  We scooped up our DIL and Rory and brought them back here while our son waited for the police to come and then we kept Rory all day while they put things straight.  The thieves must have watched and known the flat was empty and they were clearly professional. Hopefully their insurers won't take too long to process their claim.

So a busy couple of weeks but lots of quality family time and that continues this weekend as we're getting together with all our kids and Grandsons for a belated family Christmas.  No complicated meals this time though!

Happy New Year to you all.

  1. Hi Wendy,
Sorry about the robbery. How sad. Do you think they will catch the thieves?

And I am so happy you had time with family. Happy New Year!

  2. What a darn shame about the robbery! I'm glad your Christmas celebration was wonderful, even though more folks showed up than expected. Glad all is well.

  3. It’s the very best to have family around and especially during the holidays. How terrible about the burglary. I’m glad that there was no real damage. It’s frightening to think that someone can just get into your home.

  4. Hi Wendy! Great Faves. So glad you could spend time with your family over Christmas. Horrible that your son and DIL were victimized with a burglary over the holidays. It's good you were there to help them out. I am a new follower to our blog. I also participate in Friday Fave Five, so I will see you again soon! Have a great weekend!

  5. I had to laugh at #1. We were planning on being all alone on Christmas and instead ended up hosting dinner for 11. We ordered take out! That was a first for me, and it was hard to do, but I think I may have started a new tradition.;)

Oh, Christmas with those grandbabies, is there anything better? How nice for you.

So sorry to read about the burglary. I can't imagine the frame of mind people are in to do something like that.

Happy Holidays as you continue your Christmas!

  6. Well I laughed at your number 1 because although there was only 4 of us we had decided to order from our fave Pakistani/Indian food place only to discover at 1 pm Xmas day that they had abruptly closed!! as in the business is no longer there!! It's been our fave restaurant for over 15 years and we are shocked. No explanation, just a sign on their door and on their website that they had to close. So......we winged it with my husband making a veggie rice dish. it was so unplanned but actually turned out to be so much fun.

LOVE all your family time and so sorry to hear about the robbing. Hopefully they will catch the thieves!!

    Have a great weekend

  7. Sounds like fun Christmas celebrations! I'm so sorry about the burglary, though! I'm glad you were available to help. I hope their insurance responds soon. Nice to get the procedure done right away and not have to think about it and come back.

  8. Our son and daughter-in-law also ordered in for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So we had a combo of homemade Indonesian food and take out Chinese.
I'm sorry about your son's burglary. The only blessing is that no one was injured. I hope the burglars are caught!
Happy New Year to you! It's a blessing to be able to spend time with your kids and grandkids!

  9. Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry about the robbery. That must have been very unsettling. Hopefully that insurance comes through quickly.

You seem to have handled going from 4 to 12 without blinking an eye. Yikes. Sounds like it was wonderful family time though. Happy New Year to you, Wendy!
