Friday's Fave Five - 8/1/21

Thanks to Susanne at Living to tell the Story for this reminder every week to sit back and think about our 5 favourite things from the week.

Well it's been a quiet week but there are always things to be thankful for and here are mine:

1)  A surprise invite to see Rory and Vinny last Sunday (and my son and DIL of course) including dinner.  Rory was very excited to see us and Vinny is really smiling and cooing now.  This was just before our lockdown started and Rory went back to nursery.  Not sure when we'll see them again.

2) A good week for blogging.  I've managed to blog every day so far in January.

3) Despite being in a national lockdown we are still able to be in a support bubble with our daughter and her family.  This means we can still see them in their home (or ours) and help out and were there twice this week.

4)  Back to a more normal routine.  The Christmas decorations are down and there's no pressure to get stuff done.

5)  We're well and healthy. The Covid situation in the UK has gone from bad to worse this week and we're now locked down again.  The NHS  is under severe pressure and is struggling to cope.

And when things feel really hard there is always this:

Nearby open space to walk and clear my head.

  1. I can imagine how nice it would be to walk among those trees, no matter what time of the year. I'm so glad you were able to see your grandsons before another lockdown. It's getting tense around here, too (Covid and otherwise). I keep reminding myself to take it one day at a time.

  2. Oh you have sunshine!! What a lovely open space area to enjoy.
Our Christmas decorations are still up. I love the glow of the tree and just can't seem to decide to take it down.
Our granddaughter's basketball game for tomorrow is cancelled--the other team is quarantined. It seems to be happening more and more.
    Stay safe and well!

  3. We are experiencing a rise in cases here as well. We are not back in lockdown yet but things are getting pretty crazy over here....your beautiful fields and trees look quite calming. I am hopeful that after Inauguration Day things will be a bit more quiet and the rise in cases will be taken a bit more seriously. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go into another lock down as well.

  4. Yes I saw England is in lockdown again!! We probably should be too here in the States but our idiotic "leader"....well...let's just say i cannot WAIT for Joe Biden to get into office and hopefully this nation will start to heal from many things!!

What in the world is a Support Bubble????

YAY for green open spaces to walk in.

  6. You have such a lovely place to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. I'm sorry things have gone to worse over there. We are maintaining here but numbers are not going down. Vaccinations are few and the health department is overwhelmed. The call center has crashed twice here in our county with so many trying to get an appointment. Sigh.

  7. We just carried all the Christmas stuff in a box in the basement. It's only One sqare meter "big" but it is amazing how many things you can put in there since Dario has installed a shelf ! I hope next year will be a bit more cheerful then this year on video !! We still have bad weather and that's not good for the mood ! Lockdown will last at least until end of the month instead next week. Shops are open but everything else is still closed, and we are still not allowed to invite more than one person ! My cleaning woman came back from Northern Ireland she stayed there with her daughter and she had no control going and coming back on both borders ! She was really lucky !

  8. What beautiful areas to walk in. I'm so glad you were able to see some of the grandkids before lockdown and can still see some for support. As much as I hate the thought of a lockdown, I almost wonder if that is the only thing that will bring the cases down, at least until the vaccine is more available. In our area, a lot of people aren't taking it seriously and I think a lockdown might be needed since people won't quarantine themselves. Glad all your family is healthy. As much as I love Christmas decorations, it was good to get them put away and get back to a normal routine.

  9. So glad you got a visit in before the lockdown. This lockdown stuff is really getting hard to cope with. I haven't seen my mom in going on 6 weeks or my two oldest since the summer. But like Karen said, one day at a time. Those areas look like lovely walking spaces. Trees no matter the time of year always lift my spirits.
