#JusJoJan / #SoCS - In the corner.

Well it's been a while since I did a SoCS post and today I'm combining it with Just Jot it January.

Check out Linda's site here for full details of how these work.

Ok so SoCS means I just write about the prompt without any planning etc.  The prompt for today is "in the corner".

Well I did have my Christmas tree in the corner of my living room.  But then while we were still anticipating being able to have all the family here for Christmas we decided to work out how we would seat 8 adults and 3 toddlers down for dinner.   This involved putting up the folding tables we'd borrowed and playing musical tables and chairs.  It also involved moving the Christmas tree!

Yep we moved the whole thing.  You're probably thinking how mad was that?  But actually it was quite easy.  We have wooden floors.  I'd had the foresight to put a cloth under the christmas tree stand.  (We're talking artificial tree here - I've had it for years but it still looks good and trying to be eco friendly it's not going anywhere until it really needs replacing which is not yet!)  Anyway we managed to slide the Christmas tree across the floor and park it next to one of the sofas.

It wasn't an ideal location but it allowed for the best seating arrangement.

But then everything changed.  We went from Tier 2 to Tier 4 of restrictions in less than 2 weeks and were essentially locked down.  "Stay at home" we were told.

Of course it was a huge disappointment but we made the best of it and bent the rules slightly but nothing went in the corner!  I was not moving that tree again!

Personally I'd like to put Boris Johnson in the corner and keep him there so he can't make any more mistakes.  Not my corner of course but I'm sure 10 Downing Street must have some nice dark corners tucked away somewhere that he could be hidden in.  Although I expect most days he'd like to find his own little corner to get away from dealing with this horrible situation.

Speaking of corners.  Why is that spiders always seem to  hide in corners making it hard to trap them with a glass and piece of card so that you can catch them and then release them outside?

Right I'm waffling.  Time to stop!

  1. Just giggling a bit at your last about the spider! So sorry your family plans were squashed at the last minute. I've read about the new strain that has hit the UK. This has to end soon. Enough is enough! xo

  3. I wish I lived in the UK, even with Boris Johnson and all your lockdowns, you are in better shape that we are in here in the U.S. with Donald Trump. My anxiety will be through the roof until January 20. Hope you have a good weekend. Glad you got your tree moved, but sorry your plans had to change. Hope to see you again soon. Praying that 2021 will be a MUCH BETTER year for all of us.

    1. These are definitely strange times. It would be interesting to know how it compares to living through war though. I think that puts it into perspective when it feels hard.

  4. This is great! Not the bit about your Christmas being cancelled, nor the bit about WHY Boris needs to be in a corner but no the visual of you playing cards in the corner with a spider!Oh you have to laugh, lets keep everything crossed that we've turned the corner now and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
    Happy New Year

  5. When I started reading I thought goodness me she broke ALL rules hopefully there is not a kind neighbour who would inform the police ! and then you managed to downsize ! That's good I think we should follow rules when they make sense ! Otherwise I listen to myself, I have no interest at all in getting this dammit Virus. Yes Boris must hate Brussels as he went to the European school here and should be more European as all of us. But he is in fight with his father and now that the Brexit is done (I wonder for how long) Boris father becomes French ! He wants to stay in the EU !! Sounds like a family fight ! And so many people will loose their jobs not only because of Corona ! Hopefully we will get back to a kind of normal this year !!

  6. Well, we in the US will be losing our headache of a President on January 20th. But between now and then - Trump is causing havoc - I just hope our democracy survives it. Happy New Year to you and your family AND to the British people!
