Anyone who knows me will know I love a challenge. As long as it's within my comfort zone. I'm not very good at pushing the boundaries.
At this time of year we tend to look back on how the previous year has gone and look forward to how we want the new year to shape up.
2016 didn't get off to a good start as we lost my dear Mother-in-law, Maureen. Naturally that was very sad but we'd been lucky to have her in our lives for a long time and she was a great inspiration to all of us so her memory lives on.
Overall though, discounting the strange goings on in politics and the damaging conflicts raging in certain areas of the world, 2016 wasn't a bad year for us as a family. Our eldest son got married so now all 3 children are married and towards the end of the year we learned we will hopefully become grandparents next June.
Life is good.
As for plans for 2017 well I want to be more productive. I also want to stop feeling guilty if I'm not productive! I think my mantra needs to continue to be Just do it! Hence the signing up for the Just Jot it challenge. I posted a lot more blogs in 2016 than in previous years but there are still times when posts become a bit few and far between. I want to make posting a regular thing.
I also want to challenge myself more. I'm too cosy in my own comfort zone. Challenge is therefore my chosen word for this year. One of my DILs suffers with anxiety but is very open about mental health issues. She does a lot of crafting with a shop on Etsy and donates to the charity MIND from each sale she makes. She has started the new year with a self care challenge involving posting pictures on Instagram. I am a complete novice at that so I've opted in to her challenge to a) care for myself more and b) get the hang of Instagram. We'll see how that goes. Today's task was to take a picture of yourself smiling. This was my effort.
Hubby and I met up in our local coffee bar after I'd been to Mass. Hopefully I might be better at taking selfies by the end of the month!
So a jotting, a photo and no mention of spiders. Probably a good thing as the DIL who lives with us is terrified of them. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you Wendy, and good luck with the challenges! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy. Happy new year to your too.
DeleteI love the challenge! And it was wonderful to see a selfie. I am not very good at taking them either. But My granddaughter is teaching me. Like most teens, she is very good at it!

DeleteGreat jot, Wendy. Congrats on the upcoming grandbaby. Sounds like your DILs project is going well. I deal with Mental Illness all the time, so I can relate. Have a wonderful 2017, spiderless ;)
